I was sort of waiting to see if someone else had posted, but I think not. Anyway, Alice Winship, founder of Maritime Folknet, has died last week. She will be remembered for her tireless devotion to promoting and preserving maritime music.

Thanks for this, Mary. I had met Alice a couple of times when i was in the PNW. She was an amazing lady.

All maritime singers in the northwest owe a huge debt to Alice. She was the founder of maritimenet and an important organizer in many a maritime presentation, particularly at Folklife. Ave atque vale,Alice.

Sadly another one of the good people has gone. Alice was a great influence and will be missed.
I have added her name to the "In Memoriam" thread.

RIP

Just heard the sad news.

Alice will be missed in the maritime community and more!
I always enjoyed attending meetings with her.
