BS: Boring threads are comforting

Like a pair of old shoes. You know like threads of support, weather, cleaning, what you put in your gut, mother of all BS - which passed away with Spaw and Amos. (not what they wanted)
There is still a virtual boring competition but not in a vitriolic vituperative sense. People with a sensitive ego get their buttons pushed out of their own imagination most of the time. I've said it before, ego is not our friend.

On the other hand there are real internet instigators and a chilling effect once the FBI overpowers all web protections and search a data base when there is a complaint that US security is threatened.
If you think it can't happen here, it did.

Well I like to contribute to both boring and inflammable threads. If I might say so, the problem we have in the latter especially is not so much the reactors as the button-pusher(s) because the latter are (is) exceptionally persistent and vexatious. I know there are occasional non-persistent button-pushers (boy, how I love to push BWM's dog button on rare occasions) and that reactors can be their own worst enemies. But we are all human beings with more dimensions to ourselves than are on show here (and I strongly suspect that some of the ones that ARE on show here are fake). But boring threads are comforting and you're going to carry on getting my recipes and tiresome jokes whether you like it or not.

The mother of all bs thread I thought was alive and well but won't load on my phone. The brexit thread won't either.

But then I don't find cooking/joke/etc threads boring...

Click on that tiny blue letter d next to the number. You get the last page of posts, no matter how long the thread, upside down but straight away.

And if you click on the number (if it's clickable) you get the entire thread, frontwards but broken into 50-message segments.
Max closed the MOAB because it was putting too much of a burden on our system. Even though it's closed, please read it in segments.

Steve and I differ on what is a joke. Of course we do. Different countries, culture and exposure. Also on food. I eat to live and he sounds like a gourmet cook who lives to eat.
As in the closed thread it is said that its the one whose reaction causes controversey. Sometimes why is hidden, sometimes an attack is perceived and sometimes it is ingrained behavior.
I'm glad its not all boring.

I haven't a clue what you're on about, as ever, and I know you intend it to be that way. As for the jokes, well let's actually hear one from you. That would be a first...

When you don't have a clue
and don't know what to do
that is clueless

When you lose track of time
like you've had too much wine
That is clueless

When you're confused
as to what you should do
that is clueless

Scuzzami, but you see
Back in old Napoli, you are clueless

(I don't think Steve is as cluelees as he claims but rather its his way of accusing a speaker of being senseless beyond comprehension)

I find your jokes a bit mediocre compared to Jim Carrol and others who have better memories or joke books. In fact in your case the apple fell far from the tree and rolled into an unfunny ditch. Who hurt you?

Without knowing it Steve does comedy feuds with me which I have enjoyed since I first heard Jack Benny feud with Fred Allen, Abbott with Costello etc. but in the end it all falls down and ends with his tears and anguish.
As slow burn schtick goes, its OK, even if he is clueless or thinks its real.

we thank you for it.

I started a thread about the carps in this pond, (closed as expected) but it did point out that the a carp wouldn't recognise themself (sic) and who was the first poster? And did the mirror mist up?

No matter, we know who they are.

Donuel - maybe your humo(u)r could also be described as wit - as in wisdom. Not always obvious but if I don't understand that is my limitation. I don't claim to know everything...........

No, honest.

I went fishing with the Mudcat search feature just now,
and I did not catch any carps.
Did you call them something else at the time?

I am fond of the double or triple entendre. I think in terms of cartoons but Bill Mahre has both and his writers are top shelf.I have made the same jokes but never better ones. Different countries current events are beyond me too. Creating a cartoon or joke for the ages is one of the most difficult things to do. New Yorker Magazine is always on the lookout for those. One of my own favs was an alien and Einstein calculating a gravitational wave as one hits them both. Unless it is a link I post things in real time right here. Boring as ever I don't care about name calling competion or one upsmanship. I have seen many experts here who demanded respect for their expertise but that is of a different generation. Now folks are impressed with what goes viral but I've been there and done that with no real reward. Lots of people on the internet manage to make drivel pay via ads. They are the Madmen of today. Streaming consciousness like this is boring unless a person is psychotic.

carps, carping - too subtle for a boring thread I guess. Or was it ponderous?

And dare it say the boring can go deep?

Snug as a bug in Hotel Doral
Trump snubs the world while he loses morale
Sooner or later he is going to hell
When all of the bug bites began to swell

They swell and itch from his head to his toes
The bites grew together from his throat to his nose
All his insults now sound like they're snot
He thought he was great but now he's not

One of the bug bites became highly infected
His yes men were there but no longer protected
All the King's men and all the King's horses
Would not render aid not even armed forces

The moral of the story is not that its gory
Its the tiniest germ that can bring down the boring
Meglomaniac self interested whore King.
We may be but germs but WE write our short story

speaker of the house, sings calypso queen
she's the only woman that the house has seen
When attacked by Trump, she delivers quite a thump
by sawing off the branch where the prez has been

she's not a delicate flower
she puts repubs in their place
Now she began impeachment
to prove Donald is a huge disgrace

Boring threads are most comfortable when sewn together into plain white pillowcases.

To be bored is not the same as being comfortable or else this site would be discussing Muzak, for the words straight from the mouth of Hello Mudkitty (wherever it's located.), Which is to say that in this case, silence is indeed and in worf, golden.

However, there could be a case made for Muzak being Republin Folk Music,, where Ray Connif and Percy Faith would serve as their Guthrie and Seeger, in which case, it deserves its own site somewhere out of our sight.

Are you all bored yet? I am, but I don't know if anyone's comforted by the or not......

Breakfast junk-I mean Brexit Trump and Boris are exhausting and boring in their idiocracy.
Give any song a country spin and it becomes repubescent. Turn it further into elevator music and it becomes acquiescent to Muzak.
btw it just occurred to me that certain exoplanets have similar flavors as those found on Earth. There are chemical reasons for lemon and mint flavors to exist but bad taste abounds throughout the galaxy.

Donuel, it was because she was truly the daughter of the Czar.....

A Czardine as it were.....

The other reason is that she has no other source of income....

Keberoxu, The Hairy Simian Chorale might get booked back into the Mudcat Xmas Tavern again this year, if they can hire a new cook so it can reopen....

You mean that some choir master snuck in and dated another Austrian choirboy? With that kind of lax (or lacks?) Security, how can they keep their cast straight?.....I

Must we pass this sort of stuff on to generations as yet unboring? This thread is beginning to look like a Folk Processer went through a food processor. Set on Frappe and making a similar noise....

Reading these threads are associated with a higher risk of reducing depression but these posts are not for everyone. Call your doctor if there are unusual lifeforms in the field of your vision, changes in behavior or thoughts of supreamacy.Elderly readers of mudcat threads have an increased chance of death or stroke. Call your Akashic masseuse if you develope stiff muscles, confusion or lower back pain. If you notice any urge to laugh it may indicate potentially life threateng condition. Beware of random moscle movemnts because these may be permanent. Threads like these may or may not be absurd and may increase cholesterol, weight gan, unusual compulsions and behaviors and high blood pressure while drinking eggnog. Do not be overly alarmed if you grow dizzy upon standing, have decreased white blood cells, seizures, trouble swallowing and impaired judgement and motor skills. Those are probably due to your medication.
