Someone just mentioned this on another thread, and I remember hearing it just a few years ago, and liking it. I suspect I've mispelled the name, since a forum and DT search pull up nothing, but I can't remember more of the words, just that it is about someone who steals corn from the king and gets shipped out as his wife laments. Blessings,
Barbara

In searches, try for the lowest common denominator. A search for ATHEN* will get it for you.

Thanks, Dick. I see I added an 'e'. Now about this new music software; What is CFM and how do I convert it to a midi file?
Blessings
Barbara

Barbara,

We missed you during your little vacation. Hope it was enjoyable.

This is a wonderful song about "transportation" written by Pete St. John, who also wrote "Dublin in the Rare Auld Times". Pete St. John is a stage name, but his real name escapes me just now. Pete did a lot of work with Danny Doyle, and he also wrote "The Galway Rover" "The Ringsend Boatman". A great writer of lyrics. If you take your time with "The Fields of Athenry" and "The Rare Oul Times", you will bring tears to the eyes of Immigrants. Great song.

All the best,

Mick

You don't need to convert the to midi - Barry already did a great one. It is here. If you want some brief information on the tune as well as the same midi that's here.

Thanks, friends, and duh for me for trying to open the wrong file. I found fields of Athenry further down in the same bin (they all have wonderful graphic names like M001f34Z). All I can say, is, I had a WONDERFUL time singing for 5 days out in the woods and between that and the 10 hr drive home I have a serious sleep deficit to overcome.
I will now officially cease and desist from trying to open web page files with my music software.
Blessings,
Barbara
