Just a reminder .The next session will be on Monday September 5th.Traditional English Irish Scottish music. As in July it will be a players session rather than a sing a round or solo performers event.I know Hull has some talented players who seem to have dissapeared from the local sessions, please spread the word.Thank you to all those who supported Bassic and I in July and hope to see you all next week.

Alan is happy for us to use the back bar again ,which is just as well as we filled it last time.Spread the word as a lot of the Hull players don't really look on mudcat.See everyone next Monday    xxxx

But please dont let that put anyone off coming, its turning inot a cracking session!

To help any future "out of town" visitors who dont know "The Black Boy", here are some directions.

Entering Hull from the west via M62/A63 or from Humber Bridge. Continue along A63 "Clive Sullivan Way" towards Hull town centre along the Humber bank. Pass "Smith and Nephew" factory on the right and go straight across the large roundabout with trafic lights next to "Toys are Us". Pass the Marina on the right and at the next big junction, turn left at the traffic lights just before the large bridge over the River Hull. After about 100 yards turn right down the side of "Argos" and then turn left at the "T" junction. You should now be on "High Street" and the Black Boy is about 50 yards on the left, just past the Irish theme pub which is on the right.

I may allow Penelope to attend if she has completed the housework to my satisfaction Greg. 'smoke on the water' works well as a slip jig if played naked Les, I will show you on monday. This sentence is in green for no real reason
Anyhow, I have cracked 'The Irish washerwoman' and 'salmom tails' and 'Eine kleine Nachtmusic' so I should slip into the session like a well oiled seaboot!

ps On a more musical note chaps, do either of you know where I could find the sheet music for 'Swindon' by Archie Dagg who was a Northumbrian Piper?

Hello Michael, how splendid to hear from you. Hope you and the present Mrs McGarry are keeping well. I did come seeking you one afternoon in Whitby in that Endeavour, but I think you were having a lay down. I combined power drinking and playing me aerophone in that Tap & Spile the night before, and woke up on someone's chaise longue with a sore head and a gyppy tummy.

Do any of you in Hull know Denny who used to be friends with the scavengers. last I heard many years ago he went off to japan with a concertina player.

Tell him lox was asking after him if you see him, and see if he can figure out what lox is an abbreviation for. He might have better luck remembering me if he knew that I used to own a didge in E.

He knew my brother better than me, but we had a few good times nonetheless, in hull sessions as well as around glastonbury campfires.

I remember him well and wouldn't mind getting back in touch
