At 5 runs per over..could this mean the death of one day cricket?

I had thought we may have been in for a bigger total but 407 isn't bad. Tommorrow morning should be interesting. If we do get a couple of early breakthroughs, I might even start getting optimistic.

Trouble wth the aussies though is that if one department falls short, a couple from the other often seem to make up for it...

I didn't see much of it, but it seems like it was a good first day's play. At the moment it seems that we have a match on our hands.

Vaughn & Bell could have done a bit more, and I can't believe Jones is still in the team, but still, a score to defend.

These Poms are lazy bastards - hitting all those boundaries instead of running!

Perhaps this will be seen as wasted opportunity to pile on a really big score? Mind you to do it at over 5 runs per over was good but i suspect the Australians will be able to match this....

We will see tomorrow.

Well a good start by England, over 400 and hit with aggresion.
Australia were saved by the rain but we will know in the morning.
I feel that the first test result was a relief to the Australians,I think they know they are against a better side than they have played against in years.I think the selectors have shown faith in a young team who would have learnt a lot from the first test.If England do win the next test then what an exciting series this will be.
Great stuff.
Al

He will never make a rugby player.............

The choice to field - seems a bad one. 60 for no loss - seems to suggest it was?

Replaced him with a Queenslander. You're still in trouble.

McGrath not playing? Well that makes it interesting.

I'm between contracts (start 1/9) so with the days running into one another I sort of lost track of time and got ahead of myself and I thought it would be easier to have a thread for each game.

Just read England unchanged, shame I wanted Collingwood in, still

McGrath is NOT playing.

Shakey, you're quick. I was going to revive the other thread, but I didn't want to do it too early. Glad to see you have no such qualms.

If England can hold their catches the're in with a chance.

Should be a good game. Looking forward to it.

Paul -
All Blacks v. Springboks this weekend. Looking forward to that too.

I reckon that whoever gets their game together at the lineout will get more penalty corners, but will only convert them to handovers if they are on pole position in the peloton.

Watch out for the bunker behind the 17th.

I reckon who ever bats first will win, Edgbaston has a reputation of high scoring test matches, so lets hope England get in First. Watched Michael Vaghan on Sunday seemed to be back to form, but will he be fit for the game, anyone the latest about him.

Do you chaps remember when Tests would run for 5 days and even perhaps be a draw?
Ah! Halcyon days indeed

Couldn't wait 'til tomorrow, anyway it gives people chance to predict and make a fool of themselves.

Shakey

PS I hope the thread title is ok, does it need UK in front of it? ;-)

England but close (win if Collingwood plays)
