I think there should be another line :
Socrates himself was permanently pissed

I seem to remember both those lines as correct. The latter coming at the end of the song.

Yes both should be in the song (maybe ..a lovely little thinker..) but as Pavane says the 1st is missing in the DT.

It is indeed, a lovely little thinker but a bugger when he's pissed.

Incidentally, this song was the subject for a round in 'University Challenge' a few weeks back - one of the rare occasions that I've ever got all three and the starter questions right... the other occasion was about bagpipes and I'd rather not go into that....
