Hello - I am looking for poetry, song lyrics, or any other body of work that relates to worshipping the moon as an erotic or womanly mysterious object. I am writing a chamber piece for tenor and two sopranos and looking for inspiration. Many thanks.

cat stevens moon shadow?
there might be some music
from the chants of Libana.

or here is a song I wrote
many long years ago:
(it is in E minor i think)

the moon isn't hiding
so why should I?
She reveals herself
to all who look toward the sky.

Moon mother, ancient lover,
sister to us all
I hear you laughing, see you smiling,
answer to your call.

Laurel

In the book "the Rainbow" by D.H. Lawrence, there is a passage (a good couple of pages long) about a couple collecting sheaves of corn together under a full moon. All terribly euphamistic, but some of the images were quite touching.

Do a Forum Search on "Traveler's Prayer"- it's a wonderful song by John Renbourn. His source was the Carmina Gadelica which has wonderful moon-worship and other poetry.

ahh---well, then i am a moon child after all..
and was feeling the the tug of her gravity..
wish i had the knack of including the melody..
my song writing's gone down hill since 30 years ago..

T.R. Richie's *I'll Meet you Halfway* might work. Definitely a love song, and the moon is in it.
