This illustrates a Question mark. It usually follows a question. Today Brucie has forgotten what he wanted to ask. He may be scratching his head right now --while we ponder.

According to Douglas Adams, brucie, the answer is 42.

BS = BullShit.

It used to be used (by consensus) for non-music discussion. Now, I get the impression it's for non-music discussion that's somewhat frivolus. If you select "BS/non-music" when you start a thread, and title it appropriately, there isn't a need to type "BS:" in, in my opinion.

It's the print of George Washington's right ear. This is how you identified yourself in the War of Independence, because they had not yet mastered fingerprinting, genetic coding, or anal implants that send radio signals. You simply pressed the side of your head against an ink blotter and then pressed your ear against a pad of paper. George Washington had rather big ears, which is why he grew that long hair. Most people are quite unaware that his right ear was normally inkstained. The British used red ink, the American Revolutionaries used blue.

*pedant alert*

Ebbie...sorry, it wasn't Bob Hope...it was Gary Cooper..and it wasn't a one word answer in THAT story..

Reporter sent Gary Cooper's agent a telegram asking "How old Gary Cooper?" Cooper was either there...or heard about it, and had the reply sent.."Old Gary Cooper fine, how you?"

(he was once asked if it was true he didn't give long interviews...he replied "Yep.")

*end pedant alert*

Ebbie & Bill D
How old Cary Grant..... Old Cary Grant fine, How you? I think we have a folk process going on here. I claim my version as the right and true truth, as I have heard it three or four times in documentaries and it was always the same actor.

now someone tell me who was it that cabled his office when he got to Venice "Streets full of water, please advise" - was it Man Ray the photographer?

Art Thieme --- what a super story.

I found this on Google: A reporter in search of information once wired Grant's agent: "HOW OLD CARY GRANT?" Grant himself wired back "OLD CARY GRANT FINE. HOW YOU?

So, Mr. Red, I guess you are right. Bill D, I must admit that when I don't remember the details I often change a story to reflect the germane parts. In this case, I didn't even remember that it was a reporter!

So easy to get it wrong mea culpa...(well, at least I didn't try to slip in Bela Lugosi! *grin*)

BS:?

It has been determined over on the MOAB that

The Holy Trinity of BS

consists of Bill Shatner, the Father of BS, Barbara Streisand, the Mother of BS, and Britney Spears, the Child of BS.

The recognition of this Divine Trinity may well be the first step in establishing BS as an organized religion.
