sema as I'll be back on chemotherapy again. Last tests showed activity on my ribs. I can't breathe very well because of pain. Turning in bed at night provides some adventure as well. I'm asking you 'catter critters for two things.

1. Prayers and thoughts.>
2. Do any of you know if there is a place that I can send my hair to have a wig made of it? Things would be better psychologically for me if I had my own beautiful hair.

Thanks 'catters. Please let me know of any hair info asap as I will be loosing it soon.

Walking Eagle

Good luck and positive vibes

Much love and happiness coming to you.

I could only find a couple of private companies in America that deal with this kind of wig making. One of the British cancer support groups had a great links page to wig makers/fitters but only in the UK. Are there similar organisations in America that would have any further info?

Big hugs

Locks of love accepts donations for children's wigs, nothign for adults. However, World of Wigs says, under their FAQs, that they do make wigs from your own hair, to contact their "Customs" dept. They are in Santa Ana, CA. Here are their phone numbers:

Telephone: 714-547-4461
Toll Free: 800-794-5572
FAX: 714-547-6063

You have been in my thanks givings for a while, now, WE. I will continue with that and also send lots of love and energy. You are not alone, darlin'.

I appreciate all of your good thoughts. I have been in and out of remission many times in thirteen years. Still, it always catches me up. I have very high faith in my oncologist. He knows me well. He treats me like a person and he cares for me. On balance, I guess I'm somewhat lucky to have a thick file ( means I've made it this far ). I AM getting weary of a lot of things though...

There are a lot of folks with you in spirit who have been in the trenches and want you to know that storms never last.

You are in my thoguths now and when it is time for prayer, you will be there as well.

Walking Eagle, keep in mind that all of us, they say, meet and overcome dirty cells very often in our lives. Add these prayers and good wishes to your own defenses and let them give you all the strength you need (and just a touch more).

(Incidentally, I like your name. Did you know that sometimes eagles even swim? It is well documented. In Juneau, Alaska when an eagle lands in the drink either from having taken on a heavier load than s/he could handle or from having been dumped there by a 'friend', they will swim to the beach or a sand bar, arm over arm. On shore they shake themselves then stand there rather forlornly waiting to dry. Or maybe it's philosophically; with an eagle it's hard to tell.)

A few more positive thoughts.
I reccomend steak salads as a good way to replace all those red blood cells the chemo is doing in. Marinate flank steak in olive oil, and soy sauce. Broil, or micorwave for a few minutes. Serve over a bed of lettuce and LOTS OF SPINACH. I made these for my mother when she was having chemo. They helped her a lot. They also tasted pretty good.

Grandmother, Grandfather, Great Spirit

To the East
And all the creatures of the East
The things that walk, the things that crawl
All the two-leggeds
All the four-leggeds
All the things that fly and all the things that wiggle underground
The insect people
The plant people
The creepycrawlies.
To all the creatures of the East.
The land of birth, of beginnings.
To All Our Relations in the East.
Come join us now and help our friend Walking Eagle.

And to the South
The land of light, warmth, growth
To all the creatures of the South
The two leggeds, the four-leggeds
The six leggeds.
To all the thing that walk, or crawl
or burrow underground
The bird people
the plant people
the sea people
To All our Relations in the South.
We invite you now to come with us and surround our friend Walking Eagle.

To the creatures of the West.
The land of sunset, of sleep.
The place of the Ancestors.
To all the creatures of the West
the creepycrawlies, the fish
the two-leggeds
the four leggeds
the plant people
the insect people.
To all the creatures of the West
We want you to come now and join us in our circle of blessings for Walking Eagle

And to the North and all the creatures of the North
The land of rest, of winter's sleep
The place of clear light.
To all the creatures of the North
The two leggeds, the four leggeds
all the things that walk and all the things that swim or fly in the air
The snow people
To all the creatures of the North
Come now
Join us in blessings for Walking Eagle

All Our Relations
come now into our circle of life
Our circle of creativity and blessings and healing of all spirits
Join us now to uphold Walking Eagle, Rick Fielding and all others with serious illness.
To encircle all who have fear, sickness and sorrow.
Blessings on creation.

Hi Walking Eagle.......I'm sorry to have been so late on this thread but I just got home from camping and I'll be busy for the next couple of weeks.....but this is one thread I will keep an eye on for sure.

I think you know people through their words and yours, both in posts and our PM's, have always shown a kind soul with an indomitable spirit. Be assured that whatever I can offer in good thoughts are yours. I wish you still lived here in Columbus.

As the first to be the beneficiary of the power of the 'Cat to help us heal, I can tell you that this fine group was and is a major asset. I was prayed over, thought about, chanted for , and whatever else, from all over the world and from a myriad of beliefs. I don't know which one worked best, but I do know the collective power of this place.

Much Love to you and our Best Thoughts coming your way!!!

Spaw

Good wishes and prayers from Kentucky.

Also, I called my friend J. who had chemo last summer...her daughter donated her hair to Locks of Love, but J. doesn't know if they or anybody else makes a wig from specifically donated hair. She suggested that you ask at a wig shop. She got a beautiful wig in Cincinnati. Also, you probably know more about chemo than any of us, but the advances in anti-nausea meds are refined everyday. I hope it's tolerable for you. Let us know when you finish so we can celebrate!

Thinking of you.

You hang in there too Rick. Those ports are great, aren't they? No more holding my breath, fussing, getting poked with needles, and bruises that take forever to fade.

Spaw, I too wish I was back in Ohio. I miss the area so very much, even after all of these years. Well, must get back to work.

I don't know if she has friends on Mudcat who know how to contact her or her family by phone or snail mail, or if Max or one of the clones has the ability to do that, but it would be nice to know how she is. Very concerned for her at this point.

I bet Julie, having been through this before, is just being extremely smart about resting and keeping any energy left by chemo for focusing on life around her in her own back yard. Part of winning the fight is keeping one's attention on the key priorities, not on the cancer.... so until we hear further, we just need to keep her in our thoughts and prayers and trust her to be doing what she most needs to do.

Janie, I suspect not; like much of my "wisdom," this is yet another thing I need to remember, more often, myself.

And just to add what Susan has said, life is what it is as we live it. And we may chose to live in in the past or future, no matter, we must live it in the present. I learned this lesson with the passing of my late wife, Judy. She chose to live every day....

Hey, we are all waiting until our bodies give out but, in the waiting, why not live....

Sorry if this sounds sobering, But it's what I learned from Judy...

One thing I learn from Giac is that there is always enough energy to reach out to someone else, and that a pain day is a better day if someone ELSE gets something THEY need. It's hard to apply, but I am learning it, and it's pretty humbling.

Another thing I have learned from staying as close to Giac as my limited time permits, is that it helps a lot if there is a contact person who can tell folks how the ill person is doing, someone who has permission to share updates without necessarily checking first-- it took awhile before she was comfortable about that and now I know I can let folks hear about the good days and the harder times in their season-- she doesn't mind others knowing, and she has said how she is lifted up by knowing people are thinking about and praying for her; I think she just doesn't want to run the operation of managing the flow of information. She's too BUSY.

Walking Eagle, keep walking.

CLICK HERE to see Walking Eagle's post from today about how she is doing, and about her interrupted access to Mudcat. It's probably best to use that newer thread for posts directed to her.
