Martyn Wyndham-Read's "Song Links" project features songs that travelled from Britain to Australia with the transports and settlers, and which exist now in contrasting Austalian and British forms. It will be produced as a 2 CD set with accompany booklet and the CD launch will be on March 30 (a Sunday afternoon) at Cecil Sharp House, London. There will be a big concert and launch party.

The concert will feature:

  • Shirley Collins (narrator)
  • Martyn Wyndham-Read with Iris Bishop, Gary Holder and John Dipper
  • John Kirkpatrick
  • The Copper Family
  • Bill Whaley and Dave Fletcher
  • Mary Humphreys and Anahata

Full details HERE (ticket info, contacts, times, pictures)

Book early to avoid disappointment!
The publicity has only just been released so it's not too late.

hooray!! now all we need is details of the Australian launch.

The two folk clubs I'm involved with are sponsoring one track, friends involved in both clubs have sponsored another track for The Greens, Bob Bolton & I are on the committee of another club sponsoring another track.

I wanna hear it now!

sandra (waiting patiently)

The Cecil Sharpe House concert looks a similar line up as at Ham Marquee, Sidmouth last August and that was brilliant- packed out-standing ovation at the end- just about to phone Nobgoblin for a ticket

Big difference from Sidmouth is that Ruth Hazleton and Kate Burke won't be there, nor will Danny Spooner. Also John Dipper wasn't in Martyns band for Sidmouth.

One consequence of the lack of Australian representation is that Mary and I are going to have to perform some Aussie songs - but we don't know which ones yet....

Sandra - no idea what plans for an Autralian CD launch, but there is talk of putting on the Song LInks concert again as part of the Canberra festival in April 2004.
