Are Trafalgar Square, Strand, Aldwych, Ongar etc. still valid moves ?
After all Mornington Crescent itself was closed for quite some years.

Anyway I'll go:

Aha! You avoid the British Museum, Morticia, but due to my having worked for LUL's Department of Signalling and Electrical Engineering ( true! ) you run foul of my "Switch the points" card and are now stuck at Camden Road (defunct) .

Thus leaving me clear to bound to Euston!!!!

A hahahahahaha!

A note to people who are totally bemused by this:

Mornington Crescent is actually quite funny when played by talented comics.

It is, however, somewhat dull (as you've probably noticed) when someone like Edain decides to take it up as a (doubtlessly shortlived) new hobby

A certain comic understanding is needed to play it well. That is almost totally lacking in tis thread.

Noreen, I didn't claim to have the comic touch, but was simply pointing out that the game, unlike this thread, can actually be very funny in the right hands

No, I'm sorry, the rules of the NWNG version are just too arcane. I refuse to play after a particularly nasty dispute over the Cader Idris amendment which resulted in the insertion of a lardy cake into a most inappropriate orifice.

If the Isle of Wight (Newport Junction) Railway is valid so is the I-O-W Newport and Ryde Railway. So as I'm feeling sadistic I'll suggest:

To introduce a modicum of musical relevance to this forum, I humbly request to be permitted to play the Flanders and Swann "Slow Train" convention. (It is at least as relevant as the Isle of Wight variation, although, I admit, the latter does use obsolescent LUL rolling stock!)

So ...

Neither the Newport Junction or the Newport and Ryde sections of the I-O-W railway system ever used ex-LUL rolling stock. The last trains to be used were either 02 or Terrier tank engines.
