Subject: Ukelele From: GUEST,B & B Date: 30 Nov 01 - 10:38 AM Can anyone give me a website with help for tuning and simple chords for the ukelele. Does anyone know if the ukelele banjo is tuned the same way? |
Subject: RE: Ukelele From: GUEST,Sean Ruprecht-Belt Date: 30 Nov 01 - 01:19 PM I can't think of any Ukelele web sites right off my head, though I know there are dozens of them out there. A search at www.alltheweb.com should net you a lot to look at. Tuning: I tune my banjo ukes to G-C-E-A. I think that's a standard tuning. Hope you have a blast playing the cute little bugger! - Sean R-B |
Subject: RE: Ukelele From: 53 Date: 30 Nov 01 - 01:35 PM the uke is tuned the same way that the top 4 strings of the guitar e b g d and basically you make your chords the same way without the bottom 2 strings, the bango uke i have no idea about. happy playing. BOB |
Subject: RE: Ukelele From: vindelis Date: 30 Nov 01 - 03:04 PM The uke I play is tuned D A F# B. - I think that's the right wasy round (it should give the chord D6). a friend has a uke banjo in the same tuning. |
Subject: RE: Ukelele From: GutBucketeer Date: 30 Nov 01 - 04:36 PM There are several threads on the Mudcat that discuss Ukelele's, Banjo Uke's, Baritone Uke's and their tuning. Just do a thread search. Note, you may want to do a super search, a filter, and a forum search. Each gives slightly different results: Super search searches the body and title of the messages, but is dependent on when it was last re-indexed. Last I checked it has been some time since it was re-indexed so it will miss recent posts. A filter on "uke" will give all the THREADS that have the string in their title. A forum search will give all the posts with 'uke" in their title. JAB

Subject: RE: Ukelele From: Kaleea Date: 01 Dec 01 - 04:24 AM Ukes are often tuned in many differing tunings according to the song and what key it is in, or to fit the voice of the person singing. If you get your hands on some really old sheet music, you will often find uke chord charts above the staff. At the top of the first page, it will identify the notes to which the strings should be tuned. Friends of mine from Hawaii tune their ukes in different tunings for most every song. Try looking for the Mel Bay Ukele book. That should get you going. |
