I've added this event to the what's on thread, but I've just heard that the Shirley Collins song tutoring has had a large rush (as well it should!), and only a few places left. Still places for all the others though. I'll post here if I hear any more. Hope thats OK Mudcat bosses? Smack my wrists if not!

English Traditional Music School at Bath, West of England, 17-20 April Latest News:
It seems that various grants are available for some participants, to reduce the price from £125. Its on a flyer from the contact below, who are a registered charity.
Shirley Collins's song workshops are now well over the expected number but under maximum (just!).

John Kirkpatrick might be willing to teach anglo concertina, as well as accordian, if anybody is interested.

Any chance of somebody producing a video of the highlights, for the benefit of those of us who'd like to be there, but can't? If marketed properly it might actually make a profit - and even if it's not commercially viable in the short term, a copy should be archived for the benefit of future generations.

Wassail!

Folk South West is a charity, so things like profit and commercial viability don't really come into it. Its more about education than performances. Marketing anything like this is always difficult, but adverts have been put in the main British folk mags, plus mail shots to many individuals and organisations.Videos will be made where possible, anyway.
But isn't it great that Shirley Collins, Martin Carthy, John Kirkpatrick, Jon Swayne, Gina Le Faux, and Tim Van Eyken are ALL tutoring, rather than performing?

In a word, yes! It's a project that deserves to succeed, (and proliferate)and I wish it all success.

Wassail!

I don't think there is any intention to make commercial videos, JohnB, just archive. But I'll pass on the idea - I wonder if FSW have considered it?

I passed on the idea, JohnB. The comment came back that since these are much of these classes are based on individual, rather than group tuition, they would be very difficult to video.
