Subject: Once there was a Dutchman, his name was
From: GUEST,EGJThomas@aol.com

Forty years ago my Dad played a silly little song on his six string guitar. I can't find it anywhere. He favored folk and country music. The song started, "once there was a Dutchman, his name was Johnny Ver Beck/ he made the finest sausages, sauerkraut and speck/ now all the neighbors cats and dogs will ne'er more be seen/ they'll all be ground to sausages in Johnny ver Beck's machine

...and "speck" is smokey bacon, if I remember rightly. i remember being fascinated watching a Dutch friend cover one half of a pancake with hte stuff, put sliced banana on the other, smother both with honey and eat with obvious relish!

I've never tried Obvious Relish. Does it go well with all meats? Where can I buy some?

Obvious Relish is no good unless homemade. The personal satisfaction is what makes the flavour.
