Kat, I won't hear a word said against Dead...we've become good friends over the long, long, long time he has been around here.Alright, he's a little opiniated and can be downright obtuse at times, but dammit,I'm very fond of him.......I should be, we spend enough time together.BTW, anyone know how long the longest thread has ever been, it would nice to have something to aspire to?

Longest ones I know of Mortee were those which we raised to keep Spaw alive a year ago last Spring. Look for any with "Catspaw" in the title. OH, then the Spancill Hill one is pretty long, too.

In words of one syllable or fewer, please explain how to kill a thread, both on purpose and by accident. I observe that eventually all threads seem to disappear into some kind of archival twilight zone. I have no idea how that happens.

OK, this has stopped being funny and is now becoming farcical. Or if I read 'Spwa aright, fartical. Soon wel'll have Brian Rix running aroung without his trousers on, a girlfriend in the closet whilst the wife is in the kitchen, a boyfriend coming out of the closet, a mad vicar with bad teeth and someone's great Aunt going around yelling about her reticule.....

Hmmm, I might hang around, this could get good!

'Spaw - it's nearly 2am, what are you doing out without a guard? It's just before 7am here in sunny UK, (yes it is actually sunny today, so far.... touch wood......)

Have you been at that naughty still again? Judging by the smell, you have, and you need to stop that right now!!

I bet you watch the Discovery Channel too!!

One word, balladeer: Restraint. More restraint than we've got. That's what it takes to pin the sucker down. If no one posts on a thread for 24 hours, it falls off the earth.

Traditions gone sour

Secret passages. 'Spaw?
But you advertise yours with such gusto!
Sunday afternoon now, BTW, and still sunny. I think this thread's hanging by by a...well, by summat, until the autumn. Then we can wrap it in straw, paint its name on its shell and stuff in it a cardboard box to be accidentally incorporated into the bonfire on Guy Fawkes' Night.
Failing that, I'll get the ether ('Spaw - put it down; you know you should never mix your drinks!)

Ok it's now 9 o'clock Sunday night and I've been too ill to even look at Mudcat for 24 hours....... I come back to find one of my best mates has snuck off and got married without a word, Spaw passed out in front of the t.v, Gervase with a homicidal gleam in his eye and this damn thread STILL going.....so status quo maintained as usual, I see.

OK, paraphrases of great Bible verses oughtta do it. If not I can always go on to discuss various creedal statements throughout English history.

"Wring not the nose lest one wringeth forth blood." (I think it's in Proverbs)

If you are swimming in the dungpile or cesspool, the work of your hands, no matter how skillful, will avail little. (Isaiah, definitely.)

It's all true. I read it in my Bible. I just don't memorize well.
