How's the knee?

I like the folded space idea but the results are not intuitive.
There is not a more crowded space but rather a much bigger space.
This is very handy in apartment living or inside a tardis.

It ends tomorrow, when all Catholics go to church and have an "X" put on their foreheads with the ashes of last Palm Sunday's blessed palms. Then Lent starts and all good Catholics follow the fasting rules and the diet is as follows:

    No more than one meal per day is permitted.
    Flesh meat, eggs, butter, cheese, and milk are forbidden.
    The meal was not allowed until after sunset.
    Alcohol is forbidden.
    During Holy Week, the meal consists exclusively of bread, salt,    herbs, and water.

Of course, Laetare Sunday allows you to have cheese and a small glass of bad beer or wine to break the monotony of Lent. Vatican II lightened this up and you're now allowed one small glass of skim milk per day if you're over 87.

Cars tend to follow the one in front of them in whiteouts and heavy fog; I had a friend who had a long driveway off of a state highway, and one evening he pulled in and had to tell all of the cars that followed him home to turn around and head back.

My driveway is too short for people to confuse it with a regular road but occasionally it could act as a boat launch when the creek rises.

Similar to old locomotives a good cow catcher mini plow is a great walker idea.

Have you given your walker a name? Mine is called Hoppy. I had to get him when I broke my ankle because I also broke my wrist and couldn't grip crutches. I had to Velcro my lower arm to Hoppy so I could hop around on one foot.

I understand that if I ever need his services again, it may involve shuffling instead of hopping, but that makes no difference. He'll always be Hoppy to me. I wouldn't want a walker called Shuffley anyway.

I really don't need the walker, what I use it for is a general sweeping motion in front of me to chase the dogs out from underfoot. "Plow the road" is the fighter jet term that I've seen in movies; this is the terrestrial version.

It ain't addictive if it helps and you WANT to stop taking it as soon as possible. Me, I don't like to take pills but I will if I need it. Later you might try T-3 or T-4 -- basically Tylenol with codeine, T-3 has less codeine that T-4.

Right now it is my friend - I tried anti-inflammatory last night instead of oxy at bedtime (because of the swollen knee) and it was the worst most painful night's sleep in a long time. And it didn't help the swelling. I had to wait six hours before the next dose of painkiller. And I've slept much of the day. MOM hasn't had any problems with me, just nudges me occasionally and tells me to do my stretches.

elo mom, I started the partisan prescription of 'Mr. Rodgers little helpers'. They cause folks to exude extreme kindness and have a blissful resignation to bad news without worry.
Side effects are ulcers and stomach cancer but
what do you expect from swallowing the bile of the world without some reaction? They are opiate FREE but contains 90% heroin.

The sister drug to Mr Rodgers helpers is for Republicans and is just plain anerobic steroids and amphtamines.

My last name means, in Modern Dutch, "Goalie." Given that my first name translates from Hebrew as "Who Is Like God" my name means "Goalie Who Is Like God" or "God-like Goalie." (This is true, by the way. I found out the goalie part from a Dutch fella in Carcassone awhile back. We were told as children my surname meant "Keeper of the Sacred Places" which, if you're into soccer, fits.)

The "Wall" part of my surname (LaWall) is a Germanic spelling of the French "Valle", meaning valley. It has nothing to do with any wall.

My wife's name is Susan, which comes from the Persian word for lily. Therefore, her married name literally translates as Lily Of The Valley.

Quincy, WA is on land above the Columbia River and the town grid is Letter streets one way and Number streets the other. The alphabet streets only go up to T. I looked it up, I have been past but not to it, but since Microsoft seems to have set up the largest data center in Quinch, someone travels there on occasion.

Quincy, Illinois has amongst its literary and thespian lights folks like Lucile Vasconcellos Langhanke (who acted under a fake name for some reason, that being Mary Astor) and my friend Roy Brocksmith. And other famous folks, like Paul Tibbets and Ike Samuels. Martin Jones Hawkins was one of those who was chosen for the Andrews Raid, a/k/a The Great Locomotive Chase; he overslept and missed it but was promoted the Sergeant and got the Medal of Honor anyway and he's buried in Quincy. Lincoln and Douglas had one of their debates there. As noted earlier, Sam Clemens visited there many times and sometimes stayed sober! St. Francis Solanus College, later St. Francis College and then Quincy Academy and then Quincy College and now Quincy University (I lived four blocks away) was the alma mater of not only ME but also the Venerable Augustus Tolton -- yes, me and Gus were good friends and often played billiards together after various classes. The town even had a lynching -- about a month after the Civil War ended a self-confessed Missouri bushwhacker named Tom Rose was hoisted by a bunch of recovering Union veterans from the hospitals.

Quincy, Indiana...Quincy, California...Quincy, Massachusetts...Quincy, Washington...Quincy, Florida...Quincy, Michigan -- all trying to horn in on the glory. (Quincy, Illinois, FWIW, is the county seat of Adams County.)

John Quincy Adams must have been pretty highly regarded during his lifetime in order to have all those towns named after him. I don't think he's on many historian's Top Ten Presidents list.

Or maybe the idea of having a president to name towns after was so new that folks jumped at the opportunity, even if he was a lousy president.

At least they didn't name anyplace really important after him, like Quincy, District of Columbia.

There are Quincys in several states. They're all presumably named after John Quincy Adams. I guess whoever named them thought "Quincy" had more panache than "John" or "Adams".

We even have a Quincy in Florida. I've been through there a few times, but have never been struck by a compelling desire to stop.

Yessiree! My home town is Quincy, Illinois! Founded in about 1832, it's got, well, not everything, but a lot of stuff. It's got a pubic library, a public library, a veterans' home (started in 1886), a riverfront, huntin', fishin', eddykashun institoots (even a kolidj, where I went), a lotsa nice houses that rich folks lived in back in the 19th Century or so. It's got TWO bridges for cars across the river (THE river, the Mississippi,the ONLY river worth talking about), one going to Missouri and one coming back. Heck, it's even got a damn dam! I was borned, raised, edykated, and even went ta war from there.

It's a good place to be from...FAR from.

Twenty miles or so upriver from Hannibal, Mo. Yup, Sam Clemens' home town. Sam would bring a steamboat in and me and him would go drinkin'. After a while ol' Sam would excuse himself and go visit the "young ladies" upstairs. Then the Civil War started and Sam up and went West with his brother Orion -- plumb lit out fer Nevada Territory. Dunno what ever happened to him...probably fell down a mine shaft cuz he was always pretty clumsy. I just finished watching a movie. It was advertised as a costume drama, but they lied. It had people in it too, not just costumes.
