my wife replies

I WILL JUST WAIT AND READ WHAT YOU GOT FROM SOILEDUNDERS.COM IN A TEXT

I have never texted-and don't see a compelling reason to start.

It's the main way I communicate with my kids most of the time. They'll always text back, but they aren't great at picking up the phone.

I made up the website name so don't try looking for it. It was a joke.
I can't believe I told her one of her gifts. But I got her something else very special so I am not going to text my kids about it. :-)

I text like a mouse reads. I am awful at it. And very, very slow. I basically don't do it.

A friend of mine in Verona tried to send text "been to Juliets balcony"- predictive text changed it too - " been to Kylies balcony".

You pick up speed if you keep doing it. Just let your thumbs fly like the wind, then go back an correct the autocorrect, and the stuff autocorrect didn't correct.

Think about this: I can do Facebook (and probably texting) on my TV, using my remote control. You want to see screw-ups, that's do it.

Of course, it might be a load of fun to try writing song lyrics via text (and autocorrect).

I'm bad at it also. Just got a smart phone about 3 months ago, and only because I figured I better get one before flip phones disappeared, probably at about the same time I am likely to have lost enough brain cells to not be able to adapt.

As Dan notes, it does make for lots of chuckles.

Have no need or desire to get good at it. In fact, it annoys me to text for the most part. In spite of all that, I am getting better (not good, just better) with forced practice. Son and Sis keep texting as a way of insisting I practice. Or so they say. I think it is for the entertainment factor provided by my frequent gaffs.

I am ham-handed and find the teensy keyboard on the iPhone renders me an even worse typist than I am on a computer keyboard. So... immediately went for dictating into the mike and watching my spoken word magically turn into printed word.

First time I used it was to respond to a text from Sum Yung Sun about an accomplishment. What I spoke was "Well done, Son."

The message sent was, "Well hung, Son."

Truthfully, I don't really know the difference between a smart and a not-so-smart cell phone (I have had cell phones for many years, and have emailed and regularily used the internet from them).

My current LG cell can access the internet through wifi, if needed. But, I need to be near a free site to do so. I have the texting turned off, as I dont want it buzzing unecessarily-or, some twit tweeting me about nonsense tgat I don't need to know immediately.

Does that make my cell "smart", though I may not be seen as such by some?

My mum and I text each other like mad every Thursday night during Question Time and Andrew Neill's politics programme following. She's 86 and is on her third Nokia 3330, the only phone she can use. Every couple of years I have to track down another one on eBay for her. We manage to sort out the big issues facing the world, alternating with making politically extremely incorrect remarks about the participants. Last night there was a very attractive young woman on QT and my mum, texting, told me off severely for lasciviating. As it turned out the woman in question had nothing attractive to say whatsoever!

It's hilarious when folks our age start texting. I just got an iPhone, last June, & I am texting with my younger friends. Lots of ways to go wrong. Better to laugh than to cry! LOL

I was negotiating with a very nice man about buying his Hyundai Santa Fe. He said he would bring it to my house for me to look at. I sent him a text that morning explaining that I was going to work and when I would be home. He missed it. I learned this when he called to say he was at my house, waitning as was a man called Mark who sometimes does yard work for me.

I told him I'd get home ASAP, and Mark to do the yard work.

I did indeed buy the Santa Fe. But I can't say that I excel at texting.

Here are links to vetted mistakes posted by phone users via "Damn You Auto Correct."

Enjoy! Some of them really are hilarious. They're grouped by the type of sender and by year.

Not sure about my current phone but the last one always autocorrected 'mum' to 'nun'. I have to wonder who all these people are who text about nuns so often that it is the more likely word ...

It is midnight here and I sit alone in my apartment with tears down my cheeks from laughing, trying to keep it quiet. I've never had autocorrect do all that!

God gave my fine motor skills to somebody else. I need a larger keyboard. Oh, and the keyboard on the phone isn't like the keyboard I have devoted my life to using.
