I open my lovely parcel from NZ over brekkie

I contained lots of little parcels wrapped in purple paper inside a woven bag in a gift bag showing a red-beaked pukeko There were leaflets about the gold-mining region of Waihi, souvenir items including magnets, a notebook, bookmarks, paperweight. I had a great time unwrapping & admiring them.

The bag is an example of traditional Maori weaving

I always feel a little jealous of the people who do this Secret Santa thing, because they seem to have such fun with it. But I can never find the right present for anybody, so buying presents is a matter of extreme stress for me. I guess I'm best off staying out of things like this, but I'm glad so many of you have such a good time.

So, at Christmas, I avoid giving or receiving presents - but I sing a lot. And that gives me pure pleasure and satisfaction.

Merry Christmas!

-Joe-

Meanwhile keep singing, which gives you & others pure pleasure and satisfaction.

Thank you Santa,

Its Christmas Day here in the UK and I opened my box of treasures, Maple Syrup !! Real maple syrup!! Yum!

Earings so perfect, books about Maine including recipes, and stories from the kitchen, a lovely scarf for Billy, and a CD by Kendall Morse.

Best of all the most beautiful shawl, hand made and trimmed with tiny pearl like beads!! Everything wrapped in tissue so beautifully and tiny little gift bags with sailing boats on them! So many clues.....

Thank you so much Santa and Mrs Santa, such a thoughtful box of gifts. Wishing you the most perfect, peaceful and happy Christmas.

with love

Wendy xx

Thanks from Art and Carol is also part of this year's Secret Santa adventure, though they didn't know they were in the game. Joe, I hope you do decide to play one of these years - it is a lot of fun! Music is often part of what is included in the gift.

Thank you, O Almighty Goddess Of The Bats. I intend to use the instant audience at some of the more thankless and noisy or largely uninhabited open mics I perform at. There's lots of information on places to go to in New Hampster when I'm on one of my trips to Varmint next door. The cards are fun and I'm listening to and enjoying the CD immensely while I write this. It made my midnight a merry one and I'm now ready to face whatever the morning brings.

The T shirt was a perfect fit and a fitting subject, you obviously know me too well :-)

The beautiful dragon cross stitch will keep me busy for many a night to come...

Perfect :-)))

Thank you sooooo much.

I am sure I know you. But remain unsure of who exactly you are as my best guess was wrong. I ponder on. Thank you again

A lovely package from Sarah the Flute (well, in the interests of full disclosure, the package was a bit...odd, but the contents were lovely). A couple of CDs, a book about Surrey, a package of instant space aliens, a collapsible pint glass and my very own Stonehenge to assemble in the bathtub! Thanks a lot!!

A wallet. (Empty but hey ho.)
A walking companion book for the summer holiday.
A bottle of Chateau Reynella Shiraz 1995
Mrs Musket and I are hitting Oxford St in a couple of weeks to spend on each other as a pressie. Got to buy a few new ski bits for the holiday at end of January in Tignes.
My two sons, daughter in law and Granddaughter are visiting Sunday so another round of pressies then.

Sat stuffed on the settee after a wonderful Xmas dinner waiting for Dr Who to come on the telly. Mrs Musket is watching that midwife drama and my headphones are planted, listening to Rick Wakeman's Six Wives of Henry VIII.

Life is good.

Thank you for the wonderful package of southwestern delightfulness, but who are you? The only folks I know in Albuquerque arw Jane Voss and Hoyle Osborne, (if they still live there.) The Sleeping dogs cd is my driving-to-work music for tomorrow, the cornbread might be baked for a New Year's party if I'm feeling generous, the blown glass chili is in a place of honor on my tree and the baklava and cookies are in the refrigerator (a state cookie, how cool!). One other question - what's that cute critter? I love the Mexican style artwork, and the movable limbs on something that small just blows my needle-impared mind. Aw, come on, who are you, pretty please? And thanks again. Hollowfox

Thank you thank you Santa Firecat! So many beautiful things I am overwhelmed. The scarf is wonderful and JUST the right colour(s)! I am in love with the necklace made by your Mum...it's stunning. And the little glass kitties will find their way onto a high safe shelf up away from the 2 live ones I share my living space with...
Dark chocolate and earrings and...and...and...what am I forgetting? Oh, the little "friendship" pouch is a great idea!
Thank you again. You have no idea how much I needed that box of treasures. :-)

I got myself 9 pairs of heavy duty socks and a travel manicure set. Thanks me! From my 7 relatives, I got $20 worth of Scratch-n-Win/Lose lotto tickets, Christmas dinner and some stuff for the Red Cross box and the food bank.

From Mum, I got to hug her and tell her how much I love her. That's all I really wanted so it was a good Xmas.

Thank you, SRS, for your lovely gifts - they did a lot to brighten up Christmas Day, when my Mother was doing her absolute best to destroy it! (She does have Alzheimer's but, frankly, has enjoyed making people's life a misery for most of the 55 years I have known her!)

The blouse is gorgeous and such a lovely emerald green colour, the Mola is fab and is lying on a piece of fabric that makes it look even more amazing and the chilli nut brittle is already a family favourite. Thank you again

Just after a phone call woke me from a nap, I heard a truck in the driveway and a
knock on the door (and I hoped it wasn't my plow guy -- it hadn't snowed THAT
much!)... then Jeri called, so I didn't get down to check it out until about an hour
later. But it was (as I later expected after I thought about it for a minute...and there were no sounds of the driveway being plowed) my Secret Santa prezzie from Hollowfox!

What a wonderful collection of twelve gifts for the twelve days of Christmas! (I opened them all at once.) Rufus tried his damnedest to "help" me...his nose was right in the thick of it (and he was standing on the table blocking my light as well). He really wanted to claim the Little Brown Bat, but I snagged it away from him and put it safely on the fridge. I'm looking forward to seeing the kinetic bat ornament in daylight. That is SERIOUSLY cool!

The body pillow was a great choice! I've always wanted one, but never got around to actually getting one. And a lovely turquoise velour cover. And the beads! And the rubberstamps! And the mini candelabra! And the candy! And the CDs!

Wow! EXACTLY what I needed to lift my mood after this morning's sad news...

Thank you soooooooooo much!

Linn

The Santa parcel from Wales was fun- many thanks to Secret Santa- with a charmingly illustrated copy of "A Child's Christmas in Wales" (I used to provide music for dramatic readings of this!), a pair of Choc Shot hot chocolate makers to share with my Truelove, "Ten Poems from Wales" for my bedtime reading, a welcome long letter from Santa, and the cd "A Twist in the Story", packed with care using local newspaper pages.

While we did guess Santa's identity, and we have in fact met her- she even allowed me to play her guitar (we have mutual musical friends) it was fun to wonder and have such a friendly letter to confirm.

Thank you, Anne Lister!

Dear Santa, I hope you got this message that I posted on the wrong thread: Hi, Santa in Australia with a name not very legible on the customs declaration but thank you for the lovely package, which did arrive in good time. The little ornaments are beautiful and will not be confined to Christmas, and did you make them? And nothing makes me happier than a cookbook and this one looks pretty comprehensive. Thank you, thank you. I hope you are having a Happy Christmas or any such festival as preferred, and good wishes for a happy new year!

Thanks again.

Now I hope everybody has a good new year and Hollowfox? The little critter was supposed to be a dragon. It's from a wonderful books called "Sewing Tiny Toys" that makes it easy to make tiny jointed limbs!

I have also made "tiny jointed limbs" but by at least doubling the pattern size! Unfortunately I don't have a pic of my smallest bear (enlarged to 4") here but if you want to see a pic PM your email address

My own dear sweet Sly Fox Santa,

Your package arrived safely yesterday and I can't thank you enough for the thoughtful gifts you have sent to me. The time and care given in the beautiful handmade belt shows in each stitch, and what lovely colours. I have already thought of several outfits I can wear it with, thank you for that and all the other gifts!

Was the bird in your Christmas card in your garden? I'll be looking it up in a book that Severn sent to me when the Christmas tree comes down and I can get to the bookcase. The photos of other wildlife in your garden made me smile too!

Next chance I get I'll settle down with the Island Journal (and the lovely chocolate) and read about life in New England. As I will the magazine with recipes which I may share with another Santee to confuse my identity when I've read it. Even the wrapping will be recycled for my next Santee!

Our cat Rusty also sends her thanks for the ribbon which is her current favourite toy. We have been spoilt here at Old Keepers, but I just wish that postal charges weren't so crazy!

But you know what? Your care and thoughtfulness meant so much to me. In your secret Santa verses and your time choosing and making gifts for me. That's priceless and I thank you for being you.

Wishing you and your Truelove health and happiness for 2014 and beyond. Thank you sweet Maeve!

Another package arrived today, containing books, photos and a lovely letter from Amergin. Thank you Nathan!

We played the Molly Bauckham CD on the way to Brewer yesterday to look at a rescue dog (which actually came back with us and is sitting by my chair right now). Her music is right up my street and I love to hear the harp played well so this was a great choice of music. I have to learn Molly's own song 'The Wiser Maid' - loved it!

Oh good! I am glad you got everything! I'm happy you like Molly's cd. The first time I saw her sing, she was still living here in Portland. we were at an open mic, and she sang Deanta's Culloden's Harvest...and it was absolutely brilliant....she's a beautiful person with an even more beautiful voice and those fingers can sure dance on the harp.

As far as the books and the photos go, well I hope you like them...but if you don't, I understand. I'm not everyone's cup of tea, which the world would be a boring place if I were.

Anyway, take it easy, and so sorry for the delay.
