Subject: Chord Req: Chaplet of Divine Mercy (WYS surgery)
From: wysiwyg
Date: 11 Sep 12 - 12:47 PM

The chord request is for the boldface URL in the below.

I am scheduled for surgery Thursday, in about 48-odd hours (I'll get the real time tmrw). Today: Packing the bag for Rehab Phase 3, sunshine, outside chores w/dog helping, healing, tear-filled memories long-blocked. All of the above = God and His time. The latest people-thanks are for Jerry and Suzi, who solved a major problem graciously first thing this morning!

RE: Prayers.... I have had a hard time coming up w language for a wider prayer request, but the geese flying over the AM dog-walk w/scooter seemed to clear it up....

This is a surgery it turns out a lot of people have but do not usually talk about.... and that needs to change!!! I know two women locally who had it done, a local friend knows one other, and I believe another Mudcatter once told me about her experience with it. The details are pretty gory so let's not go there right now...

It is a "radical reconstructive surgery" with a 40"-wide, deep-tissue incision... (1) to correct damage done thru a lifetime of untreated hypothyroidism... and (2) to permit resuming typical physical activities of FARM life.

This should take about 10 years off my spine and knees, and may get me on horseback next year, too. It is certainly planned to power more physically-active ministries!

So pls feel free to share that as you think OK... one good way to pray for me is to sing EWTN's "Chaplet of the Divine Mercy" for/with/about me, wherever you may be. Youtube versions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnNKoOs8BdY, or the chant-oriented one I usually use: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__RbWgxA2G0 (I already have that one's dots/chords).

TBTG for them thar geese! :-) And thank YOU for your help, love, and support in His Name.

~S~

Hi Susan,

It is a beautiful day outside and the clouds over your house are spectacular....all puffy, silvery with bright blue skies and a cool breeze. If you are home, I hope Father Cootiesniffer will open the curtains for you and maybe a nearby window while you rest and heal. If you aren't home yet, I hope you have a bed near the window so you can see those clouds...they are truly gorgeous.

Hoping all is well.

Well, I got to the bottom of the "Jesus, I just can't take this anymore" prayer today.... had a good ole boohoo and affirmed even more strongly that (A) I am NOT supposed to be home yet and (B) my surgeon totally screwed up my aftercare program-- and made sure the insurance will keep making it hard for me to cobble up my own, make-do, "home plan." So I am here asking for prayer-- this time a very focused prayer: that the insurance gates open wide, and that I get into a nursing home ASAP for at least a couple of weeks.

Thinking of you Susan. Recovery from something like this can take all you've got and then some. Here's hoping that things will turn around for you today and that you'll be feeling fit as a fiddle soon. KT

What I tend not to talk about are the messy post-surg details no one should have to deal with-- without either skilled help or a houseful of strong wimminzes.

Perhaps in a quieter, more stable environment, the healing will be faster. I hope so, anyway. I'll think healing thoughts.

For a little fun, look up "wound dehiscence" and piciture stuffing half a bunch of banana in where it would be more normal to pull a baby out in a C section. Then, look up "wound vac."

I don't understand how someone with a fresh incision -- especially one that size, with in-dwelling drains -- could be discharged home without daily nursing support. That's just nuts.

===

So many things to adjust to-- scar tissue is tight like many seatbelts, nerves that were cut are coming back to life in a very weird way, and I have... a LAP????!?!?!?!? What is this thing you call a LAP? I can put on my own.... socks???? What else???? Thyroid.... ENERGY???

But now I am not sleeping-- I seem to be in-between wound healings. The first complication is just about filled in and the second has not yet begun to form significant amounts of granulation tissue under th skin. I am betting that when it does the sleeping will resume.

I am briefly visiting the house to have a light meal with Hardi and gather a few more items to make my room at the Home nicer-- and considering how to prep for possible service-dog residence there to make me walk more, there.

We had our turkey at the Home-- the food there is really purty good!

Thanks leenia! There are new horrors daily.

Today it is the reality that 59 year old skin shreds with 11 weeks of tape removal. And that wound packing material can disappear inside the wound and be found... eventually, with luck!

And that no one drew a map of the tunnels under the skin so that the dozen or so nurses who pack the wound and measure healing in there know where to pack, unpack, or measure... which means I just wasted 2 weeks of ins. bennies!

This does not include the UTI. left untreated because the attending doc is out hunting... or the unanswered questions I am holding for him, or....

But that was just the first 4 hours.... and this thread really should migrate to the BS section.

It's just too much to post each day. But now that I went off tge heavy meds I am taking notes!

Moved below the line, per request. --Mudelf who is following your progress with fingers crossed.

Yeh, I love it!

Here is a summary of what has happened. (People who email me get this and I update it as I have time.) Right now there is a huge PT-OT push and contractor-push to get me ready for the house-- and the house ready for me-- by Dec. 24.

=====

Thanks for your email. My email access right now is sporadic, at best. Fone calls are welcome.

I've been tied up since Sept. 13 with a major reconstructive surgery followed by serious complications.

FMI look up:

    "wound dehiscence"
    "wound vac" (now removed)
    "wound contracture"
    "anemia"

As of Thanksgiving this had involved ten days in-hospital post-op, then home health care, several weeks of nursing home care from which I was discharged back to home health care, 3 trips to the ER, and (the latest ER visit) a soccer-ball-sized abcess with another 4 (?) days in a different hospital, IV antibiotics, and 2 units of packed red blood cells. I am presently back in the nursing home for wound care, and hopefully, PT and OT.

All my usual activities are suspended for the present; it is unknown how many weeks or months it will take to recover from these complications. I am still working out thyroid dosages (since March of 2012), and I am not sure where I am on the anemia-- it's better but not yet quite gone.

To decrease the chance of another infection I am limiting visitors-- thanks for understanding! Priority goes to to people who can bring my service dog for a visit. Prayers, fone, and cards are welcome. Personal help at home is also welcome (call me).

Much love,

~Susan

The going-home train is running fast now and I believe I have got it on the tracks. Monday a friend and her partner are making tine to help me set up a mini- Sick Bay, where I can continue healing, in our house. I am awaiting two bids for a ramp and handrails-- both bidders assure me that weather notwithstanding, I WILL be able to get into the house (and back out again as needed), safely. A ride of the anticipated discharge day has been arranged (with backup), with a good friend who had a similar surgery awhile back. The lift recliner I am prescribed is here now and the day has been chosen for it to return home, where it will be the last item needed for the Sick Bay.

From Sick Bay I will entertain Home Health nurses/OT/PT. I will sleep. And there I will be drenched in sunshine, peace, and harmony.

I just about have the nutrition program licked-- I am on a crazy-high-protein regimen to build tissue where infection ate mine. Our favorite local chef has given me a great price on two sheet pans of my favorite entrees, which I can break down into meal-sized portions for the freezer. Hardi has been stockpiling casseroles that our dear parishioners sent home (to feed the bachelor), to feed us both, so I should be able to resume cooking gradually the baby steps I am now able to take. Canned high-iron greens, fresh fruit, etc. will be easily gotten if they are not already at home. And the piece de resistance-- Sauder's hardcooked (peeled!!!) eggs from Weis Market to make brekky a la P-Vine both tasty and easy.

Did I mention the two hernia repairs (which the pre-surgical CT scan did not reveal), that the surgeon did? Or that he only told me about one of them, post-op or in the ten+ days he visited me in the hospital? Or that he never did give me any post-hernia-repair safety information?

Or that the new belly button he made me is still draining and is not even in the middle, L-R????

I do not go see him any more.

But God is good; I think I will NOT have a 3rd round of complications, nor the endless rounds the surgeon I see now for follow-up warns me about. The two friends who had had a similar surgery never had ANY.

I will of course be careful. But not scared!

Susan, you could write a book!

Yes, but then they would have to kill me. :~)

I did start the Sick Bay today, thanks to a friend and her partner who drove an hour to help me for two hours. I left myself only the lightest of tasks to make it pretty and shiny-clean-- about as much as I already do each day at the "Home."

We then stopped at a couple of banks to move some money around for ramp construction and give the contractor his LumberBucks. Just in time, too-- snow and the hard freeze look to arrive this weekend.

I also took a few items home so that on departure day there is not so much STUFF someone will have to tote and I will have to put away.

Upon return to the "Home," I started packing those clean, freshly laundered items I will need at home which are no longer needed here.

PS the friend is a priest, so of course we "prayed the new space in," in style-- she left my Prayer Book/Bible marked where she'd led this from, waiting for me in the sunny windowsill that will be my chairside "table." A wonderful step forward is that two of the three "wounds" that were being dressed and taped twice a day are now only getting a light skim of A&D ointment-- no gauze, no pads, NO TAPE. They are the two on the front of my abdomen, which is the area that has been under tape since Sept. 13. The skin just plumb wore out from the adhesive and the removal rips. Now, my house is not at all sanitary and these rtwo areas do need some protection, so I will probably resume light dressings once home-- but in the meantime that pore ole skin is getting some healing time, to stand it.

One of the nurses came up with a much smaller dressing for the small incision on my hip where the soccer-ball-sized abscess was, under the skin. Think of it as a 4 x 4 bandaid. So it takes much less time to change that one-- and a LOT less tape all over my hip and leg.

The contractor finished the ramp yesterday. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IT!

Theft in nursing homes and hospitals is, alas, commonplace. One wonders at the management of such places and how they screen their staff who leave with laptops and jewelry and trinkets at the end of the day.

The items turned up as I had hoped they might. (A casualty of too-fast packing when discharge hour suddenly became another Insurance Battle hour, ydy.)

I am almost unpacked. The three large boxes/hampers in front of my recliner are now only two, and I have a load of wash going.

Rest, eh? Wal, that mini-Sick Bay I set up? Napping heaven. And room for the dog's bed right beside my chair.

Faulkner seems to be 5 years younger all of a sudden, having his whole pack, whole, again. Oh I had come and gone a number of times to pick up or drop things off, but it took an overnight to convince him that I am really HERE. That, and watching me unpack, helped him a lot.

As long as I gotta be housebound, BTW, I will be making a montage of some of the details.

The support here has been so important. Thanks, friends. From here it is a whole new planet, so please stay close as I encounter new weirdities. OK. I just gotta get this one off my chest.

===

I did not undergo this surgery for weight loss, though weight loss was a byproduct-- heck they took 37 pounds off my front.

But I do think of this time with the complications as "time served," where I am earning that weight loss with as much hard work as a bypass might have involved.

And I do-- of course-- like the more svelte shape that is emerging with the loss from the thyroid meds working.

So after all this I can wear the 3x's I had given my husband when I could no longer wear them, and putting THOSE on is funfunfun-- because I know that I will be able to shop in stores once I am off HHS, not catalog.

I do not mind my 6x tropical shirts being so baggy-- I can wear sweatshirts under them and it's COLD now. I do not mind my 4x jeans trying to fall off when I walk.

But I did find it REALLY IRONIC that in the hospital and nursing home, their gown sizes went as far as 3x with sleeves too tight for comfort-- then the next size was TEN X!!! So I have been swimming in gowns big enough to make a sail to make Fiji.

The various Laundry Dept. workers who brought me several of these voluminous piles of fabric, daily, assured me that the very-thin, over-worn, ties-gone gowns should be pitched. I culled my way thru a lot of bum gowns in the 6 weeks I spent at the Home.

But I couldn't stand the waste-- and they have no sewing department. So I cut the ties off the worst of them to repair the best, with my little camping sewing kit, and sent them back to Laundry to be part of regular stock.....

And I saved a few of the thin, now-tieless ones to use at home as robes.

And they are very damn handy to wear for dressing changes! :~)

===

I feel better. I am also taking daily pix of the slimming Susan as I work my way thru a closet full of items on their way to the seamstress.

Keep on that healing, strengthening track!

While I was on that last nursing home stay, laid up, some powerful people began to come to our aid on the insurance end. One of the results has been help from "Ms. Ashley"-- a breathtakingly brilliant woman in the health advocacy organization with whom our denomination contracts to help untangle pesky insurance issues.

As I get stronger, news about efforts to get back to normal activities (i.e. starting to live out some of the benefits of this surgery) are in other, topic-appropriate threads.

But in this one, I will now focus on updates about a big insurance appeal now underway.

In the days after the surgery, my handy cellphone recorded graphic examples of what went wrong and what went well. I just emailed three of the most powerful photos to Ashley-- to support the medical records forthcoming from the hospital that took care of me after the surgeon messed me up.

I do not know yet when the appeal will be filed; first I have to gather a few boxes of medical records and the referring doc will order those for us next week. Ashley will go thru all this and then actually create the appeal on our behalf-- thus providing us a kollidge lesson in insurance industry priorities!

I fully expect the insurance company to turn around and sue the surgeon to recover expenses they have paid out on my behalf. Some people have opined that I should consider suing him, but as long as I continue to gain strength and avoid further complications, we will not even need to go there. I just want to be WELL and get on with my life. I am quite sure that he will reap what he has sowed, all by himself.

My friend who was struck by a motorist in a parking lot last January has recovered but it took a long time - 2 weeks in the ICU, 3 1/2 months in various rehab facilities, stepping down in complexity as needed and as insurance dictated. In order to pay her hospital bills she had to sue - the driver of the car, and she had to sue insurance companies, including the auto folks since she was hit in the parking lot (she had two auto insurance policies in effect - one was supposed to have been closed a few months before the accident but family discovered the company was still pulling a policy payment from her checking account every month, so that company was on the hook though they tried to back out of the policy when they realized what was happening). We're coming up on a year on January 12, and some of this is still unfolding. She has had an attorney taking care of this stuff. Hang in there, don't let those companies off the hook.

SRS, wow!

She has had an attorney taking care of this stuff. Hang in there, don't let those companies off the hook.

This is exactly what Ashley does, under the umbrella of our very supportive diocesan health insurance plan. Our denom funds insurance thru a compassionate group of companies which are headed and often staffed by clergy. In managed care, PT (for example) is, industry-wide, "evidence based." Our insurance is purchased thru a "compassion-based" system, which includes checks and balances that come into play when one is SO "under water" on health expenses that were fairly incurred that one needs access to additional resources. In our case one of these resources is Ashley.

ANY member of our insurance group has access to the Health Advocate network of experienced expediters. We were additionally blessed to be assigned to a senior member of the expediting group who can do all this-- without violating a Christian preference not to bring suit the way so much of our culture is prone to do.

Going to court is a last, last, LAST recourse, for us-- and only after all other means have had time to play out in honest mediation.

It is a very different way to do business. For example, the PT person at the Home, when she heard about the notion of "compassion-based" services, had a real hard time even seeing that there is another way out there, which is working well for many people. Her "evidence-based" assessments of my progress, for example, will help me make a case to a donor organization that compassionately assists when medical expenses go beyond the red zone-- while the PT's Medicare-mindset led her to think that "no" (i.e. insurance will not cover more PT) really meant "never" (i.e. no other funds are even out there). That org may be able to help when I get past HHS PT and onto outpatient PT-- our insurance covers some of the cost, but significant co-pays would preclude my doing outpatient PT at all without some help.

Again, it is a very different way to do business. We do our part by being wise stewards of our income, and that includes significant participation in annual parochial pledge and capital programs... as well as personal volunteer service and financial assistance to people in the community; it all usually comes out OK, over time.

It's very different to what I understand about US health system. Do other churches & compassionate organisations offer similar health systems?

Here in the land of Oz we have universal health care - Medicare is government run & offers hospital & medical care, tho many folks also have private health cover to (help) cover the gap between Medicare rebate & fees charged, & to pay for/contribute to non-Medicare services. Medicare Australia explained on Wikipedia

Patients can still have a large out-of-pocket expenses.

It's very different to what I understand about US health system. Do other churches & compassionate organisations offer similar health systems?

Well, let's see. I can really only speak to my own experience, but I suspect the answer as far as other denominations would be yes.

Here is an example from our housefire in 2000. The Church Insurance Group would gladly have hired a lawyoo to sue the landlord, till I explained that he had become a friend, treated us well, and we had employed one another's young men for their first jobs outside their own families-- that we did not want to sue and we fir sure did not want our happy, leaseless (handshake) agreement threatened with hard feelings. (And we have been here now since '94.)

So the CIG paid our claim without suing him. The landlord's insurance did turn around and sue us and our insurance, because that is what secular, profit-driven entities do. But the whole time they were doing this, our landlord had no idea it was being done in their name. We just never brought it up, even as weekly mail came and went all about the gory details. But when the landlord's family found out (around final settlement time), were they mad. "Those 'tenants' are our dear friends! Stop this suit at once! You cannot do this in our name!"

Hardi had buried their patriarch, Walter.... because they asked him to, and because Walter had just loved sitting in our driveway watching our ducks. (There is a MudThread about that one.)

Blessed sleep, in your OWN bed- there is nothing like it!

Well.... I did not actually sleep deeply, and I felt it the next day: insufficient energy.

I have not been totally accurate in posting about the scar tissue that is going to be problematic for several more months. There are bands of it (along lines of incisions), and big lumps of it (where abscesses/gappy pockets were).

It variously feels like overly-tight seatbelts I cannot take off, barbed wired lacing, a hot iron bar running me through, a cinderblock between belly and bed or hip and bed.....

Then there are the miscellaneous sharp pains from time to time in places where they have not been, that may be from benign causes (increased activity for example) or from new complications brewing.... as the day goes on these daily "adventures" become quite wearing and I get pretty.... well, "crabby" is an understatement... sometimes walking helps.... sometimes I just do not have the energy left for that...

This is a daily, ongoing part of healing from this surgery and from the way the damn doctor messed me up.

It IS good for my prayer life though. :~) And hopefully y'all have been and will keep praying for this to soften, strengthen, and heal. And/or that I will learn "saintly" cheeerfulness-- I am working on that too.

One recent morning while enjoying my sunny Sick Bay I happened to notice a flash of red in the bushes along the creek, looking out the east window which, most winters, has been kept covered. We need to keep the heat loss as low as possible. (Being on house arrest for HHS, this year we splurge on keeping the indoors as bright as possible.)

Of course it was a cardinal, lurking among reddish-brown herbiage still clinging to the bushes. And a lovely, sunny meditation it was, enjoying his presence. Oh LOOK, there are TWO.... two bright red males.... and a THIRD!?!?!?! I got up and put out some cereal for them, scattered over the ramp's railing that faces the bushes. (I didn't have anything else they might like.)

And then, as they say in poker, I went "all in": I hied myself hence to Amazon. Invested about $40 bucks in bird feeders I can mount on the ramp's posts, and a birdbath too.

Cuz when it comes to birdehs, one is never enough.

In early spring we are always buzzed by hummingbirds that seldom stay the summer. By golly I will be ready for them this year, and THIS year when all that snow melts, I'll be able to get down onto that porch and set a spell among the birdehs! Bird feeders and colorful hanging pots and..... zero grav recliners... camp chairs.... pickin'.....

The mind must know I am going to survive this surgery and complications. It has gone off without me, planning for a few more years in this ole house. Everything portable to go to our retirement digs a few more years down the road.... yep..... uh huh, I see it now...

Today the appeal specialist (Miss Claudia) at Health Advocate introduced herself. She has begun the review of my medical records.

I spent way too long yesterday going over the bulk of the records with a fine-tooth comb to spot items that show the medical necessity of my having been in the hospital, which is what the appeal is about. I got through about 80 of the 100+ pages; Ashley had sent them to me in PDF form so I could look in one screen and make notes in a WordPad file. When I can stomach those last pages I will group the types of info into a chart to discussion with Claudia.

We also need to get a letter from the referring doc outlining what he had told me about the expected aftercare needs; I am mulling how to draft that request since he will probably write the letter from whatever I draft for him from my recollections of that conversation before the surgery.

Uck uck, uck!

Although my REASON for agreeing to this surgery was for the LIFE-saving benefits-- some of which I have been enjoying despite complications-- it is also OK to ENJOY some side benefits I have begun to appreciate, as I get my strength back.

Some of those benefits are reflected in an update of a montage previously linked upthread:

:~) I have got to get this boxed up crap out of my living room. It is boxed but the thing needs to go to another room out of my sight! Thing is I am not sure where I want it! Oh I know-- the ARCHIVE storage in the way-way-wayback part of the house! LOL, I was gonna put it in my office that I am already feeling like not going into! OK I will ask Hardi to carry it out there for us-- it's too heavy now for me!

Note to self: As advised by an experienced friend, it is all sorted by provider and then by date within those groupings. I noted which ones were originals and which ones copies, and whether I had annotated any of them or left them un-noted/unread. ALso the files that go with them on my LR computer were specified right on the records, in case Hardi needs to know where to look for detailed notes.

Yet to do-- get a printer cartridge and print those computer files, plus relevant emails, and box them into all this as well. Best case-- I never need all of this paper. Worst case-- it is in a handy form to tote off to a lawyer. In between-- CLAUDIA.

Here is Miss Claudia's report on her plan to chop out the first $30,000 of that $51K bill:

I have some good news. I called [the hospital and spoke with Dxxx, the supervisor of Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) insurance for the facility. I asked for a corrected bill reflecting that the covered surgery was performed on 9/13/2012 (not 9/14 as billed), and admission to the facility was on the same day. Dxxx told me that this corrected bill is already 'in the works' and will be filed with BCBS. I asked when I could follow up regarding the payment of the claim. She expected this payment to be finalized around mid March.

Whap! Slash! ZAP!

Answering a question asked upthread, in the US one can get their own Ashley or Claudia via http://www.healthproponent.com/... if one finds that the purchaser of their insurance group's plan has not contracted with Health Advocate or their health system has no Health Navigator.

The hospital's first re-submitted bill seems not to have arrived at Blue Cross so they had to submit it again-- which re-sets the appeals clock (that's good).

Susan, you are looking GOOD. I foresee the day when you will look back and marvel at how well you feel- and ARE! Too bad you had to go through the extraneous stuff but congratulations, for a' that.

(Now, if I can just get myself motivated...)

The traumatic surgery/complications' memories and phantom, amputee-like sensations are coming to the surface now as the first anniversary approaches. While these are pesky in realtime, they are also the bodymind signal that a significant state of healing has actually occurred. I am told I should plan for two years-plus to feel "well." I do feel/function better in many respects but am trying to be realistic as Year Two begins...

Well I missed this whole thread...what year!

If it helps any, paraphrased here is how I had post-op abdominal pain explained to me:
The nerve supply in the abdomen exists mainly to support digestion, elimination, and the lives of the organs that carry out these functions. Those nerves are pisspoor at accurate transmission of pain. Same in the thorax. That's why people feel like they have indigestion when it's a heart attack, or nausea when the abs are just exhausted from to many sit-ups, or get sharp, debilitating pain ( or roving aches or u-name-it) during healing.

I can't vouch for its accuracy, just that it's how an MD explained it to me.

More physical activity improves the messaging (decreases foolish signals) but it'll likely be months to years until one day you realize you haven't had this or that weird pain for the longest time.

Happily, bad anniversaries do pass. It's good to indulge your emotions a fair bit for the first one--part of processing it all.

Many hugs!

CH,

Well, gosh-- it's my anniversary, isn't it? What a dear you are for asking!!!

I had a great co-counseling session (www.rc.org) Monday AM that blew out a lot of the anger, and all week I have been cleaning like a madwoman-- MIL is here for my annual Fall Cleaning. Most years I clean and then fall back into not cleaning. This year I think I have enogh of a metabolism to keep it up, and to keep the scar adhesions from continuing to grow I need to walk. A lot. Like behind a vacuum cleaner and a dusting rag.

All in all, it's good to be "this side of the dirt." Hardi has a surprise for me for tomorrow-- I think it's being spoiled at a spa-- in honor of the event.

Today is the first anniversary of getting out of the nursing home and starting to rebuild life in this house around wellness, now that thyroid treatment has made such a difference. I'm deeply grateful for all the support that helped me get as far as I have; I still have a ways to go.

Since then, tho, we have found and bought a vacation cottage in the Ohio town where we've vacayed every year since... I dunno, a LONG time. The closing was last week. I bug out with a load of furniture Jan. 3.

I'm madly (and thoughtfully) packing. Doing this the week of Christmas, since we are a clergy couple, is... interesting. (Our wedding was also in what is Hardi's busiest season, so it IS an anniversary project....) We have an open cargo trailer that I will tow down-- hoping we get no precip or snow if we must, and NO RAIN.

A waking insight today was: if I pack things in canvas trunks we already HAVE, the contents will stay DRY (enough) on the open trailer if I FIRST put the contents into re-usable TRASH bags of which we have more than enough!!! I have 3 right off the bat: a huge trunk-shaped item I used to haul pillows in, at my sickest; 2 wedge-shaped, more structured items that zip and can be laid down flat or stood up. The trunk-shaped one can sit on top of furniture. The other two can stand up along the sides to help brace other items.

There is one more piece I may use also, if I can clear a path to it for the MenzCrew: a wide, resin, garbage-can "garage" that could sit at the tongue end, with bagged linens inside of it-- easily fetched out without even taking the thing off the trailer-- it could just stay there till the next trip. (Tall #1 son is meeting me at the cottage to help.)

That next trip will be Hardi and I together in February-- he says flying down to drive back with me, this trip, will not work. That's OK-- a Valentine Vacay Week works!!!

Holiday elf tasks are actually done TOO (I cannot believe it), in time for Xmas Eve. Also cannot believe how far I have come since discharge from the nursing home last Xmas Eve. I'm planning to attend at least one service tonight, maybe both.

Love,

~Susan
