Dean, you need to get checked for Giant Cell Arteritis, GCA for short. Along with the temporal arterial biopsy, ultrasound arterial scanning is increasingly relied upon. Check out the work of Prof. B. Dasgupta. He is the world authority. If GCA is diagnosed, please do all you can to get the steroid treatment started asap. I've been down this rocky road myself & your post has a familiar ring to it. Time is of the essence.
                                                                  Every good wish,
                                                                                             Nigel.

Just retourned home on th 8th from a very enjoyable 14 day group tour all over Western Europe. Sat down for a bit to catch up on computer. Suddenly very tender around one eye; looked in the mirror and it looked about like a chicken about to hatch. Local ER sent me a few miles to one with more relevant docs. Multiple consultations. just had a biopsy of the temporal artery. Have had some intervenous steroids which have calmed things down, but they all agree they needed to check for an inflammatory condition which might call for aggressive treatment to keep my vision safe. Im not panicking, but Im concerned.

released, went home,
then hospitalized a second time.

This is one time when it is happier [Donuel]
to be wrong than to be right.

Rapparee, I hope that the stress
of waiting for the results of your stress tests
will be relieved soon.

The mysterious trials and tribultions of Dean have been resolved. The answer was staring us in the face with his face the whole time and lies in the deepest recesses of the endocrine system.

hope she and her loved ones are holding their own.

Rap I hope that your experience will merely teach you what a heart attack does not feel like. You are already atypical. Being attacked by your heart would be such a betrayal. 127 ain't bad.

Frogprince, some pithy old sayings are none the less true like "it takes a year". In a wierd way I think its good you knew a friend worth suffering for.

I've been hiding in the shadows on the deck for too long. I've continued to listen in on the rest of the crew, and you are in my thoughts. I think I can say that I'm healing okay, though I'm sure I haven't shed my last tear. I have a regular weekday morning routine of walking and a little workout at the city "community center" (primarily a rec center) followed by coffee with others on the same schedule. Judy initiated that while she still had the capacity, for which I'm thankful now. I put in some desk shifts at the local art gallery, as required if you have work in our local art association's section of the gallery; I usually have at least some photography up.Just now bracing myself to sign up for a 6 or 7 country look around Europe.

During the Manhattan Project two scientists were working on a circular radio wave -- a long shot, but nobody knew what would be needed to make an atom bomb.

One day, the younger exclaimed, "I have it! I've diagrammed a circular radio wave!" and thrust his paper at the elder scientist.

The old man said, "You young fool! This is nothing! A naught!" and he rolled the paper into a thin tube and thrust it into a pencil sharpener, the shards falling to the floor.

Immediately they were surrounded by a large group of very angry janitors complaining about the mess.

Then a huge explosion happened and a mushroom cloud rose into the air.

And that's what happens every time you get a critical mass at ground zero.

I'll bet you look forward to the end of those 3 days! When your body will only contain normal stuff again!
127 when the goal is 124 doesn't sound so bad to me, but what do I know?

So does being a Type II diabetic and going without food or drink for 10 hours. My heart rate went to 127 on the treadmill, the target was 124. Then they injected me with Technetium and a robot camera peaked into me. A break, then back to the robot camera again. I must say that I'm glad I have Medicare AND insurance.

I was told that the Technetium leaves the body in 3 days so I'm unlikely to achieve critical mass and explode as an atom bomb. Nor will I become a mutant who can tear down a city and shoot laser beams at other, annoying, drivers from my eyes. Both of these are probably good, but I would kinda like the laser beam thing.

Somebody is going to smack me up
for posting LilyFestre's news here,
since the news appears on a different thread.
Too bad.

It's a big deal for her to have her husband Pete in hospital.
He was there for her throughout her previous illness and recovery.

She is even spending nights at Pete's bedside,
working on charts for her work while he sleeps.
They have a child and a farm,
however she doesn't want to be away from him.

Keep LilyFestre and her family in your thoughts and prayers.

The stitches came out of my forehead this morning and no brains fell out! The doctor says that I had a "calcified hematoma" that had to be pretty old because it had formed a little ridge of bone on one side. The ridge stays, as it would need to be chiseled out and we agreed that it wasn't worth doing.

Sending love to you Nigel and Ann ,on Jane's anniversary.
Jane's Rainbow has brought so many people together, a special place of peace and calm.
It has joined so many people together who have never met in person but have shared sadness, sometimes joy, a place to share unspoken worries, deep despair, words of wisdom, but most of all friendship.
Bless you Nigel and Ann, we share your sadness today but thank you for sharing Jane with us and creating Jane's Rainbow. A very special ship

Thank you for asking, Keberoxu. It still needs more therapy for strength and range of motion. Many movements with that arm are awkward. I'll have another evaluation by the therapist soon and more X-rays in early April. It still aches, but gradually less and less. Some daily tasks, like getting into a coat, can still be amusing!
