Here I go again......

came back from work on Saturday to find mother's carer very upset. She caught my brother going through my and Billy's mail, left in a pile in the kitchen! Please don't agree with my furious daughter, who thinks I should ban him from the house, that would distress mum who lights up when he walks in.

We haven't confronted him because Billy says he would probably lose his temper and doesn't want to risk a heart attack? I have never seen him lose his temper in 30 years but this might be the straw and the camel if you know what I mean! I have blitzed the kitchen the worktops have never been so empty of clutter and every piece of paper has been removed to a safe private place.

I must have been bad in a previous life? Its like living in a far fetched movie.

No ill effects yet so it looks like the cheese is still okay. I had it in a 400F oven for about 20 minutes longer than usual, though, just for good measure.

Thank you all for your good wishes. Ann & I had lunch at our favourite restaurant (Tomassi's in Southend on Sea), followed by a leisurely drive home through the Essex countryside. A light supper...a couple of good documentaries on TV...and so to bed. Simple pleasures that made for a gently memorable day. Many of my Friends & Former Students 'bombarded' me with a plethora of affectionate comments on FB too...I'm still basking in the afterglow of affection from soo many good people.

sounds like you are busy , wendy. we are looking after granddaughters while mummy is unwell also, but she is out of hospital now, and has her son back as of last night, with the plan of having the others back as she, hopefully. continues recovery. dementia club sounds promising. sometimes it feels like juggling, don't it?. you wonder when you gonna drop a ball !    blessings all    pete.

Been on shore leave for a while, looking after the grandaughters while mummy is feeling poorly.But my thoughts have been on the crew and hoping for good health and good news for you all, as anniversary dates have come and bought tears but also happy memories.

Thank you Maeve for the special thoughts, much love to Pete, Janie, Mary and of course Nigel and Ann.

As the health of my daughter is still uncertain I am thinking I may need respite care for my mother so, just in case, I visited a nursing home on Friday last. The only one in the area that had been recommended! ( I did do a reccy 3 years ago and the homes I saw were horrendous) However this one is like a 5 star hotel and ticks all the boxes. The good news is they have a dementia club once a week so mum can go from 11 till 4 and enjoy the activities etc. Then if we do need respite she will be familiar with the surroundings and staff. One more step forward?

On a happy note Billy and I took the little girls to their first barn dance on Saturday and they loved it, danced every dance!Plus the band were Skinners Rats so Bunny and Pru were delighted to see "Uncle" Barry playing his violin.Happy Days

Our Very Dear Pete...Janie is right...Katherine is in a safe place where she will be cared for, 24/7. Her recovery will almost certainly take a while. Progress is usually made in tiny increments with recovery & relapse going hand in hand, but ultimately, recovery will triumph.Your love & patience will be rewarded. There are many of us on 'The Rainbow' who are thinking of you & Katherine at this very moment...know that we are here.

Yes, ChanteyLass, 'bittersweet' is a word that sums up the day perfectly, but our mood was by no means melancholy. We were greatly cheered at lunchtime to discover that two good friends of ours who used to run "The Best Café in Town" & were forced out of business by some extremely suspect property deals, have taken over the café in our local library. Yesterday's lunch was a happy time, with much 'catching up' & free cups of coffee.

Thanks Pete...new works have been a bit thin on the ground for several months...totally deserted by my muse (if I ever had one!). I am, however, revisiting a piece I started ages ago & never completed...that happened yesterday too...see, I told you the 9th September was a special day!

The 9th September is special...it's Jane's birthday. She would've been 49. Many memories upon which to reflect & just a few too many 'If only...' It's also special because Jane, being the clever lady that she was, managed to give birth to her first child on the 9th too. Her son, now a strapping 25 year old is forging ahead with his career, so we are compelled to look to the future. The balance between "What was" & "What is to come" is a work in progress, but with the passage of time, a balance will be achieved. To complete the picture, my first, late Wife's birthday was also the 9th September. If I were a numerologist, I'd be having a field day!
