Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: billybob Date: 22 Oct 14 - 05:49 AM I have mentioned our daughter Sammy has Crohns disease before, it has come back over the past two months after being in remission for eight years. Sam has lost 2 stone in that time and the hospital has been diagnosing over the phone. Alas the steroid has not improved her condition at all, she is hardly able to leave the house yet the consultants appointment ( fast track ,they said) is December 12th !! I am going to phone his private secretary today and see if we can get a private appointment, she cannot go on like this till December. I will be in her bad books but " its only money" and her private insurance does not cover pre existing conditions. As you know our NHS has been brilliant looking after my husband Billy and I am sure that once she gets to see the consultant they will be equally as good, but I am so worried that they will only speed up when she becomes an emergency? So prayers and thoughts please crew? Meanwhile BB and I are having the girls as often as possible, so tomorrow we are taking them to see "The nutcracker" ballet and on sunday we are going to our son's theatre to see a production with the BBC's children's entertainers. Onward and upward, ( by the way mum has not noticed my brother is not visiting in the evenings and Billy's BP has gone down due to less stress!) sailing on much love Wendy xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Nigel Paterson Date: 19 Oct 14 - 06:11 AM I've been checking in every day, reading, but not posting as regularly as I would've liked. I'm not very good when it comes to apportioning internet time, so the lion's share has gone to my website, which desperately needs updating, redesigning & kicking up it's cyber backside! It's still 'work in progress', so you won't see any changes yet...need some help & inspiration from those good folk at my local Apple Store. I have made time, however, to re-read many PMs, both sent & received...words of love, compassion & wisdom from those still with us & from the Dear Departed...words like: ".....we have so many here who offer so much of themselves, it has buoyed my spirits & my sense of friendship in a way I would have never believed possible in the cyber world....." Uppermost in my mind are Wendy & her Family; Pete & Tommy; Gnu; Joe & his Family; Maeve & my belovéd Ann. Sending much love...hoping for calm seas & fair winds, Nigel xxxxx |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: billybob Date: 18 Oct 14 - 07:20 AM It is a wonderful place, look it up on the internet. Colchester is Britains oldest town and the Roman remains are all over the town, including a stadium for chariot racing! We are only 20 minutes away by car but I had not been inside the castle since I was in my teens! This is the joy of being a grandmother, Billy and I have a brilliant excuse for having lovely days out. Sutton Hoo next, only forty minutes away. sailing on with love to all Wendy xxxxx |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: ChanteyLass Date: 17 Oct 14 - 09:32 PM I'm glad Tommy was able to go to school. I hope he is soon judged well enough to spend the whole day there. I want to go to that castle! That must have been a good learning experience. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: gnu Date: 16 Oct 14 - 08:46 AM "... the school just takes extra caution?" I assume they follow strict policies in such regard. Just glad to hear he is okay. Wendy... sounds like a good time was had by all. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: billybob Date: 16 Oct 14 - 06:31 AM Pete, so glad he is home, and back at school even though they sent for you.I guess the school just takes extra caution? I did walk down to the beach hut on sunday morning for a coffee, the sun was shining for a couple of hours. On Saturday we took the granddaughters to Colchester Castle, what a brilliant place, they gave the girls a tablet computer thingy? and it showed them what the castle looked like and what people were dressed in. How Colchester was first ruled by the Romans and how the castle was built on the site of the Roman temple. We even went into the dungeons complete with sound effects of the witch finder general's trials!! They had a lovely day out of the rain. Sending love and best wishes to all sailing on Wendy xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: ChanteyLass Date: 13 Oct 14 - 10:01 PM Maeve, Joe's back home. He posted that on Facebook's Mudcat Cafe page on October 9th that the had evacuated from 3-9 PM. I tried to copy Joe's post, but I guess Facebook doesn't let people do that. I think I've tried that and failed before. He also posted photos of the fire, smoke, and firefighting planes. Pete, I'm glad Tommy was in out of the hospital after just one day. I hope he continues to improve at home. Gnu, I'm sure your chicken was delicious. Any sides with that? |

Has anyone else gotten an update? Fair winds to all- how be ye? Maeve |

He can still see mum but has to come during the day and take her out in the car. My love to Nigel and Ann, hope the results are good, waiting is the worst time ! My thoughts are with Joe, hoping they are safe. Good news for us, Billy saw his consultant yesterday and his blood results are good so doesn't need to see him a for three months. sending love to all, Wendy xxxxxxxx |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Janie Date: 08 Oct 14 - 11:37 PM Joe Offer posted the following on Facebook about an hour ago. For those of you who may not know, Joe and Christina live in northern California where wildfire is always a danger, but apparently even closer than what has occurred before for them. There is a wild fire across the freeway from our home. We were evacuated about 3 p.m., and we are staying with friends in Auburn. We think our house will be ok, because the fire is moving away in the other direction. We don't know when we will be able to go home. Please send socks and underwear. Hoping the fire not only keeps heading in another direction, but hoping no one in any direction are harmed or lose their homes. I know fire is a fact of life in the west and part of the natural process, but still hate for so many people and wildlife to be at risk or destroyed. |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Nigel Paterson Date: 06 Oct 14 - 06:00 AM Despite Ann's train being delayed, we still had time to eat lunch & get to her appointment earlier than the appointed time! Janie, we have to wait a few days for the results, but with Ann's previous medical history, they usually bump cancer patients to the head of the queue. Pete, yes, by 6pm UK time, we had returned to Paterson Towers AND in true Brit. style, had drunk a mug (the cups come out when we have visitors!) of well-earned tea. Ann enjoyed her college reunion immensely, meeting a number of former students she hadn't seen since graduation. Much exchanging of 'phone numbers & email addresses. Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Nigel Paterson Date: 05 Oct 14 - 05:11 AM Ann has spent the weekend in Liverpool at a college reunion, so she'll be returning to London in a state of nostalgia overload! Assuming her train arrives on time, we'll still have time for lunch before her appointment at 4.40pm. Public transport on Sundays is always fraught with engineering works, leading to line closures. Fortunately, the route we will be taking is engineering-free, so it should be plain sailing. Thank you, all, for your warm, supportive words, With Love, Nigel & Ann. xxxxxxxxxx |

The two lines you quote above would make a perfect motto for Jane's Rainbow. Not sure how we'd stand, copyright-wise though. Your thoughts, prayers, meditations, candles, for my belovéd Ann. She had a malignant melanoma successfully removed several years ago. Several lumps have recently presented, far too close to the site of the original op. Scan this coming Sunday afternoon.
