Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Nigel Paterson Date: 19 May 17 - 11:54 AM Thank you for your good wishes, all passed on to Ann. 'Birthday Bash' was something of a misnomer. Once Ann has worked her way through the 'six hours behind', we'll probably go to Tomassi's in Southend-on-Sea for a leisurely lunch. Good mains & more homemade, Italian ice-cream for desert than you've ever dreamed of! She's currently unpacking...it's 16:50 our time. I think she might just make it to supper, plus an extra hour or so & then, in the words of my Dear Departed Grandmother: "Up the wooden stairs to bedfordshire". Much Love to all, Nigel & Ann. |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Mysha Date: 07 May 17 - 04:38 AM Hi, Thanks ChanteyLass. With New Moon being during the day and me working in a school there's fairly good coverage where that is concerned. (-: Oh: "who doesn't look funny" should probably be read as "who doesn't give me funny looks". I'm rarely talking with clowns or mimes about things like this. Bye, Mysha |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: ChanteyLass Date: 05 May 17 - 06:46 PM Mysha, I'm glad your colleague was with you and able to help. May you always be with such a person when a new moon arrives! |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Mysha Date: 05 May 17 - 04:16 PM Hi, Yes, I guess they are panic attacks of a kind, as people with Asperger syndrome are indeed supposed to get. But since by now I know what causes them, I can mostly handle them. E.g., I just found that something in my shopping bag had leaked a bit. On 27 days of the moon I'd wipe every item as I take it out of the bag (regardless of whether it needs it), and throw the bag in the laundry. At Full Moon, I'm likely to take a more active solution, like moving the contents of all items to other containers, so I can dump all the packaging immediately. At New Moon, I may leave the shopping bag as being impossible. (The next day, I'll rescue what I can.) I did look into this one, but it's hard enough to find someone who doesn't look funny when I say the Full Moon influences my daily cycle. If I were to say those panic attacks Asperger literature talks about are actually New Moon-related, the reaction might for me be hard to cope with. Anyway, not to worry: It's only once or twice a year that I notice it's New Moon from the scare I'm having, and this was a bad one, as such scares go. But thanks for the advice. Bye Mysha |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Rapparee Date: 05 May 17 - 08:41 AM Mysha, panic attacks (which is what this sounds like) can be minimized or alleviated. See a good psychologist, preferably one trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy or Prolonged Exposure Therapy -- both work. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: keberoxu Date: 01 May 17 - 05:32 PM Mysha, that sounds more than a little bit post-traumatic, that incident. Good thing someone was with you. |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Mysha Date: 30 Apr 17 - 05:43 PM Hi, Thanks, keberoxu. I think the wry wit scares some people, so, I'm happy to see it's also appreciated in some way. I actually had one of the worst New Moon scares since years this week. Nothing medical, though: Suddenly all this clearing the house seemed completely impossible. Fortunately, one of my colleagues from work was in the house with me and she helped me stay active, though it was very confusing. All good again the next day. (-: I often wonder how other people feel a New Moon. Are any of you more panicky when it's New Moon? (Or vv., mm..) And congratulate Tommy with his 940th septimanaversary. Or was that yesterday? I get confused with the time-zones, sometimes. Bye, Mysha |

Had to get new locks on the salon door this morning, some "kind sole" had tried to jemmy open the door in the middle of the night, no real damage done but made me quite cross. There have been a number of break ins in the Frinton shops over the past few weeks, very unusual but we live in unusual times don't we? onward and upwards, going to a music session in Walton this evening, dare I sing, such a long time since I have.... but maybe fondest love Wendy xxxxx |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Rapparee Date: 14 Apr 17 - 09:07 PM She's home and wandering around the house. Tomorrow the intake nurse from home health care comes. Yes, she's in pain, especially when she does something which she shouldn't. She'll be back asleep soon; she's doing that a lot just like she did last year. Now comes my part. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: ChanteyLass Date: 14 Apr 17 - 08:37 PM Thank you, Rap, from me, too. I'm glad the surgery went well and that the outlook is good. I hope Pat quickly recovers. |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Nigel Paterson Date: 14 Apr 17 - 04:44 AM Rapparee, thank you for your update. Quite how you found the time amazes me. Ann & I send our sincere best wishes for Pat to make a complete recovery, soon to return home. We are thinking of you too. The 'carer's rôle' is not without it's difficulties. Take good care...your health & strength play a significant part in the 'bigger picture'. Sending love to you both, Nigel & Ann. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Rapparee Date: 13 Apr 17 - 07:42 PM She was out of surgery and recovery around noon; about 1 p.m. she arrived in the hospital room. She'll be there at least tonight. The surgeon said all went well and she believes that there was no spread beyond the original place. A "simple" mastectomy was done, i.e., the chest wall muscles, etc., weren't touched. When I left she had just awakened from a nap of 90 minutes or so and the massive headache she had after surgery had abated to the point of tolerance. Fifth bout with cancer and the first recurrence. Going to dinner and then back to the hospital. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: ChanteyLass Date: 13 Apr 17 - 05:49 PM Rap, by now I hope Pat is out of surgery and doing well. Please update us at your convenience. Pete, I'm sending early Happy Birthday Hugs to Tommy. |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: keberoxu Date: 09 Apr 17 - 02:37 PM Keith A of Hertford posted what he called amazing news to his "chemotherapy" thread. When he started the thread, he had a pancreatic cancer diagnosis, and the doctors had concluded that surgery was not an option given the progression of the cancer. That was over a year ago. Numerous treatments later, the doctors find that much of the tumor is no longer discernible on the scan. This means they can attempt to operate. Keith posts that the surgery is scheduled for 24 April. I reckon that he would welcome all the well-wishes, thoughts, and prayers of anyone so inclined; I certainly send mine. |
