Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Nigel Paterson Date: 07 Feb 16 - 07:48 AM Greetings to all from East London. I'm still officially on 'shore leave', so spare me a thought tomorrow, Monday, when I will be spending the day at the T.I.A. clinic (second time in two years). I will know the results by the end of the day...no tedious waiting. I'll post again when I am able. Much Love to You All, Nigel xxxxx |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: gnu Date: 03 Feb 16 - 05:59 PM I really don't understand. Ya get yer eye done and the doc messes you up and ya gotta have the fly eye on fer a long time. Then, ya get yer finger shot with a painful injection. What is with Idaho medical care? |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Janie Date: 29 Jan 16 - 05:55 PM Wishing you well, Rap, and just research the surgeon well who will be doing the hand surgery. All such surgeons are not created equal. Annie had multiple surgeries for both carpal tunnel and trigger finger done (the result of a combination of years of fiddle and guitar playing, plus wind and kite surfing which also impact the hands and wrists.) On top of that, she was in a terrible car wreck soon after the first surgeries, and was impacted by the pressure on hands and arm stuff from using a walker. And she has made out just fine - though does still pamper the digits and is very picky about all things related to the neck on a stringed instrument. No surgery will completely erase the effects of years of wear and tear, eh? Kinda a scary to think about you seeing even more clearly than you already do, if you get my drift. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Rapparee Date: 28 Jan 16 - 08:51 PM Now the left hand, and in late April the left eye. When the left eye is done I can hope that I won't need glasses anymore. Right now I just want the hand hurt to stop and my finger to stop locking into place. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: ChanteyLass Date: 28 Jan 16 - 08:44 PM I'm glad about your eye but not about your finger! I hope that surgery goes well, too. And Hawaii sounds good. Can you take the Rainbow crew with you? |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 28 Jan 16 - 05:38 AM good news, & good to get the hand fixed, but maybe you need to tell your body to stay well. sandra |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Rapparee Date: 27 Jan 16 - 10:29 PM Good news: the vision in my right eye is now 20/40 (without an assisting device) and I'll probably be getting a prescription for a "milder" lens soon. Bad news: due to "trigger finger" in the ring finger of my left hand I may be facing hand surgery. I was referred to a hand surgeon this afternoon. I shall need that month in Hawai'i (February 21 - March 21) to escape surgeries! |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: GUEST,Peter from seven stars link Date: 24 Jan 16 - 01:28 PM It sounds like you and your mum had some precious time with granma before she flew this life. Blessings. Pete. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: ranger1 Date: 24 Jan 16 - 09:28 AM Thank you, Maeve. My gramma passed last evening. My mom and I were with her. On the drive home, I needed music, badly. I'd been humming I'll Fly Away and then put in a CD. At about 7:30 PM, I realized it was Saturday and started going through the available radio station to find an NPR station I could pull in so I could listen to The Thistle and Shamrock. I caught the tail-end of Prairie Home Companion, and what song did they close the show with? Yep, I'll Fly Away. Couldn't decide whether to laugh or cry and ended up doing both at the same time. |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Donuel Date: 22 Jan 16 - 08:41 AM Tiny Tim, my youngest is eating better but the cause of his inability to attend school remains unchanged. Since Insurance no longer covers his condition like it id for his older brother we have to give treatments in home. His bathroom looks like a kill room out of Dexter. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: ChanteyLass Date: 21 Jan 16 - 08:00 PM Tami, I've been away from Mudcat for a few days, so this is the first I've heard about how close your grandmother is to crossing the bar. I am glad that you are able to spend this time with her. I'm sending hugs to you both and to your mother, too. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: ranger1 Date: 21 Jan 16 - 02:26 PM Going out to see before it makes it to northern New England or your part of Canuckistan, gnu. Been sitting holding her hand today. Just me and grandma at the moment. Enjoying having her to myself for a bit. Telling her what birds are at the feeder, the eagle I saw down the street yesterday, that kind of stuff. Booted my mum out for bit, she was feeling a bit stir-crazy. Told her we'd be just fine without her for a bit. |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: ranger1 Date: 19 Jan 16 - 09:30 PM We're on death watch here. Hospice nurse told Mum this AM that Gramma will probably pass within the next 24 to 72 hours. I've been trying to get down here since Sunday, but weather didn't cooperate. Arrived at 4:00 this afternoon. We're sitting with Gramma in shifts and holding her hand. I drew the dog watch. I don't mind. It's peaceful at that time of the morning. She can't really converse at this point, but she knows we're there and can hear and understand us. She kissed my hand when I got here and went in to relieve Mum. |
