I have added Dave Cooper to the roll today. He was involved in music and unaccompanied singing for most of his life performing as a child and progressing through the well documented folk club "Phoebus Awakes" at the Rising Sun in Catford, South London and The Robin Hood Folk Club in Nottingham. He was a good mate for more years than I care to remember.

Issue 132 of The Living Tradition magazine carries on page 10 an obituary of Joe Rae, Gutcher of this parish, who died on 13th December. I was sad to see this, and surprised that no-one else here seems to have been aware of his departure.

This seems to have been his last post here.

Two more folk to add to the roll today. Mose Scarlett and Don Bilston. Singers and musicians on opposite sides of the Atlantic although plenty will know of Mose as he came across to visit our folk clubs in the UK. Different styles of music but both very entertaining. Mose has videos on You Tube. Don not so much. Mainly cover versions. They both have web presence though.

Both sadly missed.

There are some additions to make to the roll. Bob Gibson (1996), Frazier Patrick "Pat" Henry (2018) and Joe Daly (2019). The roll began back in 2011 and the trawl through Mudcat at the time didn't bring Bob Gibson to the fore. It should have done! You can read about him here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Gibson_(musician)

Pat Henry was a well known Folk musician and organiser in Alaska. You can read about him here: https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/juneauempire/obituary.aspx?pid=190494051

Joe Daly was also a lifetime performer of Folk Music in the US state of New York. You can read about him here: https://thelcn.com/lcn01/video-popular-folk-musician-joe-dady-dies-at-61-20190519
I have included them in the "Those who ought to but haven't" section.

Thanks to Wally and Ebbie for their nudge!

RIP

Peter

For most of the departed named in this thread, there is a separate Mudcat thread devoted to that person. Anyone can look at those threads. I am grateful that Waddon Pete is putting those names together here. It reminds me of a war memorial which lists the names of those departed from a single town.

Now that is an idea, Maeve! We could inspect all the preschools and nurseries and have a whale of a time seeing how musical all their pupils are. We would have to check Flickr as well, I guess. There are some burgeoning talents on there too.....the possibilities......endless!
