Subject: Scant Sanity john f weldon film From: GUEST,john f weldon Date: 12 Aug 11 - 10:20 AM My weirdest NFB film is now on-line. "Scant Sanity". I've put this above the line, since it's loaded with songs by myself & Montreal's own Bowser & Blue. Even weirder is the fact that it was packaged for TV with Gayle Thomas's Quilt film, and that's the way they've put it on-line. The first half is Quilt, the second half Scant. Gayle is quite normal, but they chose to put her together with nutsy me. Crazy Quilt |
Subject: RE: Scant Sanity john f weldon film From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 12 Aug 11 - 11:37 AM as you say, strange combination of subjects & styles, but brilliant. I loved Gayle's film, some of the bits reminded me of fractals, it certainly shows how pattern elements are combined to create blocks & quilts & as always, I loved your work. It was good to hear how you created your film. I'll be sending the link to some quilting friends, I hope they enjoy both bits. As someone who never goes to the movies & doesn't have a TV, I've just watched 27 minutes of fast moving pattern (sanity & craziness) & my eyes need a rest. sandra |

Subject: RE: Scant Sanity john f weldon film From: open mike Date: 14 Aug 11 - 01:41 PM Is there a place to find the animated film "The Man Who Planted Trees (and Grew happiness)"? It is based on an inspiring book by Jean Giono and features a character (fictitious?) Elzeard Bouvier,(sp?) a shepherd who created an entire oak forest by planting acorns. It is a very up-lifting film and I would love to see it again!! 30 minutes long |
