From: Susan A-R

Just made my reservation this weekend and am really looking forward to it. Looks like a list if great performers, and I haven't been to any places where Mudcatters gather for about a year and a half.

So. . . Who's headed for the fairgrounds (should I start a betting pool re weather??)

Susan

Duane D. & I will be there, Friday through Sunday. Duane will be helping at the Folk Legacy booth & I will be out & about, helping a little, as needed. We've gotten spoiled--definitely motel--Best Western on Western Ave. in Albany.

JHW, Old Songs is an annual folk weekend in a town near Albany,New York,USA. Many Mudcatters attend &/ participate in various ways. Old Songs is special for the amazing quality of its spontaneous harmony singing. It's a great way to start the summer, if you can join us. Here's the info:

Old Songs Festival

Sorry, not this time.
There's a direct conflict with an early music camp I've been interested in for a while now. Hopefully next year will not be a conflict.
Does anyone go to Falcon Ridge, of Ossipee Valley?

Got my tickets a while back and will be in the 'music at night' section outside the gates.

Will there be Woodchucks this year? I missed the 'cowboy coffee' and the music last year! (I'll even bring coffee again if I'm still allowed to mooch.)

Ted and I will be there. Ted's doing sound for the dance pavilion as staff
this year. So we'll be there from Thursday afternoon through the bitter
end Sunday for set up and break down.

There's lots of great music. We've got Deb Cowen to look forward
to this year. Lots of great Adirondak musicians as well.

We'll be camping again. (Showers at 2am... oh joy.)
I'm looking forward to lots of visiting, listening, and singing.

My friend Pam and I will be in the Noisy at night/quiet in the morning section. Took us a while to wise up to the fact that we were generally being noisy at night somewhere, if not in our camping area, and folks did get moving awfully early in the quiet at night section.

There's been someone with good coffee in the concession area the last few times I've gone, but I missed last year. I sure hope they are still there.

Can't Wait to see you all, play fiddle, listen to bunches of good musicians and sing, and dance and . . . Is it really only a weekend??

Dick Greenhaus and I will be at the CAMSCO booth, so come by and say hello.

If people want mudcat tee shirts, let us know what sizes and colors you want us to bring - navy or red, small to 3X, but not all are available.

Dick will be leading the Friday nite sing after the concert, in the Dutch Barn.

Ballad singers: It is not in the program because it is not official, but April's Saturday morning 8 am ballad sing is always wonderful. It is usually at the Street Corner or thereabouts. Look for signs.

Our campsite is Quiet at Night, in the 600s, but I'm thinking of getting a hotel room if there's still space in town. Does anyone know about the little M & M motel right at the corner of 146 or whatever the route is?

I stayed at the M&M back in the eighties before I got my camper. It was somewhat better than suffering a thunderstorm in a tent, but only if it rained.

Kris and I will not be going for the weekend, because:

- I will be driving back from TN to VT, following a week at Steve Kaufman Flatpicking Kamp, on Sunday and Monday previous, and will be ready to enjoy being home for a while.

- The two of us are playing on Saturday for our home town celebration which has been moved from July 4 this year.

- We're getting kind of long in the tooth for sleeping on the ground, and haven't made a decision about buying any kind of camper yet.

We may drive down for the day Sunday. We'll see how we feel at 6:00 Sunday morning.

The good side is that, as Kris is retiring from public school teaching this Spring, the Getaway is a serious possibility for the first time.

Boy, I sure would like to go, but this year Old Songs and the Festival of American Fiddle Tunes are both happening on June 29th. As much as I'd like to, I haven't figured out how to be in both places at once. So, Fiddle Tunes it is, for this year.

Have a great time, everyone! Looks like a GREAT lineup!

Meadowmuskrat - We have both red and navy teeshirts in XL, which do you want? Where in NJ are you? We are in Mercer county. PM if you want to be specific. (Assuming my PMs work - they all vanished last month and I have not run a test to see whether I can still receive them. My archive is there, but the ones I kept in the current area are gone.)

Got my tix. I always camp in the quiet-at-night section so it'll be quiet when I DO retire to my tent at some wee hour, and the noise of little children will keep me from sleeping through the day (though the tent always heats up enough in the sun to wake me anyway).

I can hardly wait, but I need to learn a couple of more songs for the singarounds first.

Old Songs aint old songs without the Woodchucks.
KT, how can you settle for fiddle tunes rather than Old Songs?

Anyway, you and the Woodchucks better show up at the Getaway this year.
I'm having another operation on my vocal cord next Wednesday, so I may have a voice by Getaway time.

Kendall - best of success with the operation.
May your surgeon be extraordinarily skilled and attentive.

Charlie - I can't wait to hear a new song or two...
not that anything's wrong with the old ones.

And, I also hope to be at Getaway this year - my first,
if I can make it. October seems a long way away.

There are no medium mudcat tee shirts of either color and only one XXL (navy) after this. The small and large are navy only.

Hello,

This message is for Ron Olesko.

Ron I don't know how to contact you so I will ask my question here.

I have read the thread about the song "The Miracle of the Wheat" and I am trying to get a recording of the song for a dear friend that used to listen to the AM broadcasts of Stan Matlock in the 60's.

Please send me an MP3 of the song at cgray@inhiscommission.com. I will gladly pay any royalties necessary.

Thank you,
C. Gray Adams

Getaway '08 is on my radar.....still in the idea stage, but under serious consideration.
