Ron...

There is a nice Clancy songbook "The Irish Songbook", with about 80 of their songs and wonderful illustrations. I've nearly worn the cover off mine. You can get it from Elderly Instruments, $16.95. Elderly has perhaps 30 Irish folksong books, some of which have been discussed here. Elderly is at:

http://www.elderly.com/

The current incarnation of the Clancys has Liam with son Donal and nephew Robbie O'Connell. They have a modest homepage at:

I have two Clancy songbooks, probably out of print - but here are the references: 1. The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem Song Book (Oak Publications, 1964) 2. The Irish Songbook: 75 songs collected, adapted, written and sung by The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem (Music Sales Corporation [as was Oak, but this does not say Oak] 1969 0-8256-6022-x

There are also lots of more traditional Irish songbooks, which others can help you with

The current edition of the book review magazine
'Books Ireland' has reviews of two song books
that may be of interest to Mudcatters.

The Age of Revolution in the Irish Song Tradition,
1776 to 1815. ed. Terry Moylan. Lilliput. 176 pp
(€ 20.30 pb 30 x 21 cm        1-901866-49-1.

Far from the Shamrock Shore: the story
of Irish-American immigration through ; song.
Mick Moloney. Collins Press. 40 pp + CD € 25
hb 25 cm square 1-903464-13-7.

Both are given good reviews, unlike Malachy McCourt's
'Danny Boy' which is savaged.

Books Ireland's E-mail is booksi@eircom.net
