I just listened to the other versions posted here and enjoyed them all. While Lonnie did have traces of Wabash Cannonball in there, it wasn't the whole tune, and he used the tune most of us know for the chorus.

lonnie donegan used a tune that was someone elses work and misappropriated it."

If you look at the label shown in the video of Lonnie, the credit is given to (Carter).
