Ewan MacColl and A.L. lloyd, "Whaling Ballads."Originally recorded in the 50's, it's last appearance on LP was in the early 70's on the now defunct Washington label. It was the album that made me fall in love with sea music, and remains my alltime favorite sea music recording. Peggy Seeger does banjo accompaniment on some tracks, and there's a harmonica player whose playing is so precise, it could be easily mistaken for a concertina playing single notes (can't remember the name. I think it was listed with a first initial, then last name). I used to check it out of the public library, but it was eventually discontinued, or maybe stolen or damaged beyond repair, I don't know. I never found it anywhere else, until I joined Mudcat, and Liam's Brother kindly taped it for me after I mentioned it in a thread about 7 years ago.
This is a completely different recording than "Blow Boys Blow," or Lloyd's "Leviathan!" which are available on CD.
