I can't believe that this thread has continued for so long. It's absurd. Everyone is entitled to an opinion I guess but really what good are they? A "best" has by it's implications to exclude rather than include and this is not what I would call in keeping with my understanding of what folk music is. If we're going to continue this nonsense, I advocate a kind of folk beauty contest where the brightest star gets crowned and becomes king or queen of folk music. They should wear a little banner across their middle and parade in front of every Mudcatter who would be forced to sit and watch. The winner would be sent to Hollywood to be in a feature film. They would be given their own TV show and a national fan club would be set up. Maybe in this way we can finally define what folk music really is. :) (At least for some). Frank Hamilton
