lamarca Songs that hook you with One Great Line (91* d) RE: Songs that hook you with One Great Line 02 May 02

"Clock in the kitchen, clock in the hall,
Clock on the mantlepiece, clock on the wall
Tocking and ticking me off when I'm late
But no clock to tell me it's time to migrate..."

from Leon Rosselson's Fly High and Free, a neat song about the seasons and the migration of swallows.

"All the late night bargains have been struck
Between the satin beaus and their belles...

You played robbery with insolence and I played the blues
in twelve bars down Lover's Lane..."

two couplets from Mark Knopfler's Your Latest Trick - Knopfler is a great songwriter; intelligent, emotional and tells a great story with his lyrics.

I am also exceedingly fond of "If it was not for the alligators, I'd sleep out in the woods...", Dave T. Gnome!
