Don Meixner Lyr Req: Then Came the Children (Paul Siebel) (22) RE: Paul Siebel 28 Feb 99

I haven't thought of this song in 25 years or more. Paul Siebel was a great influence on my early performing and I think few people wrote as well. His stage performance was wry and ironic and laid back and yet he had an intensity while he was singing. Its a shame he recorded so little. I hope my memory is complete here. I would have to go to the attic of no return to find the lyrics.
Let me know if you need more.
Don Meixner

Come gather all around me friends I'll tell to you about the minstrel band,
Of children in their witches hats and painting piutures with the pipes of pan,

A young boy and his sister played some tunes upon a whistle made of tin,
And lead me through a flower garden laughing at the postman's stumby chin,

Oh sing for us you children tinkle bells and rhymn the purple ggreen and blue,
And think of us as fighting fools who wintered through the seasons loving you,

For we can teach you nothing nothing but survival in the desert bare,
And you can teach us how to love and live and tie bright ribbons in our hair.
