Nice to hear about a new venue opening up, I'll check it out this Sunday or the next. Other venues of interest include the Laurelthirst Public House (2958 NE Glisan), the Snake and Weazel (1720 SE 12th), Produce Row Cafe (204 SE Oak), the White Eagle Cafe and Saloon (836 N. Russell),and the Backstage at Artichoke Music (3130 SE Hawthorne). KBOO FM (90.7) has a folk calendar every weekday morning (very early, before 7am) and Fridays between 11:00am - 12:30pm. This radio station, for those who don't know, is one of the exquisite gems of Portland, it's an amazing accomplishment to have truly public broadcasting in an era of corporate media. Another good source for folk listings is Mercury, a free newspaper that can be found on the street, in cafes, stores, and in lots of laundramats. The Oregonian and Willamette Week also print listings, but theirs tend to be edited. Just Out, the local gay and lesbian community paper (biweekly) carries information about queer folk.
