Rasta Oh the Thresher (Kingston Trio) (5) Oh the Thresher 28 Dec 98

One of the many songs I liked playing when I first played in the Village in N.Y was and is (The Ballad of the Thresher.) Not to be confused with The Phil Ochs version.
This version was cut by The Kingstn Trio on an album called (Sunny Side) Song was about the Nuc Sub that sank off the coast of New england bout 1962. I belileve John Stewart did the banjo lines on the album. The banjo almost sounded like it had an off open tuning. Im familair with most open tunings but the way John played this song has me forever stuped. Is any one on to the way the thresher was played on that album.

Oh the thresher- the finest atomic ship
that ever sailed for the sea
each man on board was a volenteer
was there cause he chose there to be
chorous
---every man jack on board was a hero
every man jack on board there was brave
every man jack on board was a hero
each man risked a watery grave
