I'll bring it back to the answer that is most logical and appeared above - it's the lullaby. Not _a_ lullaby, but _the_ lullaby, the song mostly hummed by a mother putting a baby or child to sleep. The form makes perfect sense. And anyone who has sung and rocked or danced a baby to sleep knows this is probably true.
