I've skimmed through this topic and searched this page - re: teaching kids to think, I think the concept some of you were looking for is the teaching of critical thinking skills. This is not teaching kids what to think, but to question the sources and arrive at what appears to be The Truth, or a part of the truth, at any rate. It's something a lot of students don't come across until they're in college, and even there don't necessarily learn how to apply those skills, but once learned, you are forever a skeptic and looking behind statements to see if the sources are reasonable or not. To see if it makes sense.
