I live in a town that used to boast, 50 years ago, a fishing fleet. It Then employed a very small minority of the people. Today that fishing fleet has, to all intents and purposes, gone. Nationally the fishing industry creates 1 tenth of 1 percent of the Gross National Product. Now I understand for that 1 tenth of 1 percent of the people the industry is VERY important, However in the great schemes of things, to most people, it barely registers apart from the jingoism that surrounds it.
