The owner of the 'Sibin' pub, outside of Baltimore, West Cork was Seanie Daly- this was a song he sang regularly at the Sunday evening singing sessions about 30 years ago. Regarding Irish pronunciation and the ' John Dawly' in the lyrics given above, Daly was normally pronounced Dawly or Darly by the people of the Mizen area.
