That is truly horrifying! The place will become a ghost town, inhabited only by a tiny sewing circle of bitter, thin-lipped ex-librarians and their ilk. I shudder to think of it. As for the 46% increase in property taxes, that's outrageous! You should definitely appeal it in that case. I pay about $3,000 Cdn a year in property taxes here for a medium size bungalow and 7 acres of land. That's about $2,250 USD. What's it like where you are?
