There's a ton of good music in Minneapolis/St. Paul. The Cedar Cultural Centre on Cedar Avenue is a great place to hear music. If your friend is interested in jams, there's a terrific one at the Prairie Star Coffeehouse on University Avenue in St Paul on Saturdays from 9-1. The Homestead Pickin' Parlor on 66th & Penn in Minneapolis is another gathering place for folkies--they have various jams happening throughout the week, and the folks there usually have a good idea of what's happening around town. The Minnesota Bluegrass and Old-Time Music Association also sponsors concerts (Laurie Lewis next week) as well as a couple festivals in the summer. There's an RUS song circle at the Unitarian church on 34th & Dupont in Minneapolis on the first or second Tuesday of every month. An Irish session on Sunday nights at O'Gara's on Snelling & Selby in St. Paul. Various other sessions around town, and other music venues too, of course, depending on what you're interested in (the Fine Line Cafe on !st Avenue, for one). You can PM me if you want my email address or phone number--I'd be happy to have your friend give me a call when he's in town if he wants more information. Turtle
