I cooked a Steak and Ale pie from a recipe that I saw on the Guardian blogs. Steak and Ale pie is a very easy thing to cook, but I was intrigued by the fact that this one has a tbsp of cocoa in it and I wondered if it would make a difference. The pie was sensationally good. I don't like Guiness for cooking, or indeed most stouts as they are just too bitter. I tried Jennings dark ale which is from Aldi and the cheapest on the market and it seemed perfect. I used beef skirt and cooked it at 150C for three and a half hours.
