GUEST,999 BS: Would You Burn Your Vacuum Cleaner??? (30) RE: BS: Would You Burn Your Vacuum Cleaner??? 09 Mar 13

I worked at vacuum cleaner repair for about eight months a few years back. My boss who'd been in the business for 40 years told me that vacuum cleaners that have no bags are bad bad bad bad bad. They breakdown often because dirt gets everywhere in the machine and buggers up the mechanisms. Judging by the number that came into his shop for repair/rejuvenation, he was right. One thing to keep in mind when buying a VC is to ensure you get one that uses bags that are easy and inexpensive to procure and take note of the make and number of the bags. The second common area of difficulty is belts in the machine. Replacing a belt isn't rocket science, but it's a good idea to have a look at it before it breaks, note the belt number and how it fits the make and model you have in the event you have to replace it. Like most machinery, it's worth checking consumer reports to see what is good for your situation.
