Charlie Baum Remarkable performance at Newtown CT (10) RE: Remarkable performance at Newtown CT 17 Dec 12

Rabbi Praver is chanting "El Molei Rachamim" (G-d, full of mercy), the traditional Jewish memorial prayer for the departed. He has personalized it here, reciting it in the plural for multiple souls, the departed of the school in Newtown. (You may be able to hear "Newtown" in the midst of the Hebrew words if you listen closely.)

Rabbi Praver also plays fiddle/violin and guitar, and did so last Thursday at a community Hanukkah candle-lighting ceremony in the neighboring town of Monroe, Conn.

I remember performing in that auditorium at Newtown High School in happier times, back when the NOMAD Festival took over the Newtown High School in the 1990s.
