GUEST,Patsy BS: 'To every thing a season'? (21) RE: BS: 'To every thing a season'? 16 Dec 12

I was brought up in a household where certain things were bought at seasonal times of the year. We waited until the first Cheddar strawberries came in to be had with proper Cornish clotted cream. Then it would be raspberry season in July equally delicious. My mother would only serve salad when English produce like cos lettuce and homegrown tomatoes were available. But it was a ritual how it was served as well, everyone sat up at the table. For me it was a summer teatime treat along with tasty crusty bread which to my mind tasted better than the bread available today. Ironically although the choice and availability is better the family was much more of a stable less selfish unit.
