My in-laws live in Georgia. One of the real hi-lites when we visit is getting boiled peanuts. Have to eat them right away, still hot, washed down with beer. I like getting the ones with four nuts in the pod, never see that in peanuts we get here. When I first visited them 25 years ago there were several stands in the area, now I only know of one. Fortunately it is just down the road from their house. They live in the suburbs of Atlanta and the strip mall culture has taken over in a big way. Still a lot of rural areas around 25 years ago, not so much any more.
