GUEST,Mickey191 Favorite Broadway show tunes (116* d) RE: Favorite Broadway show tunes......" 11 Aug 00

Sinsull, you and I share the same feelings for "Show Boat." It is my all time favorite, seen both movie productions and loved each for different reasons. The 1939 version (Available on tape) has Helen Morgan doing "Bill" & "Can't help lovin that man of mine".She had such heart, I was so surprised the !st time I saw her-expected a really sexy vamp. She was the total opposite, but what a voice.Hattie McDaniel & Paul Robson doing "I still suits me.''That wasn"t in either of the 2 revivals I saw.Who knew Irene Dunne could sing? Loved & cried for Ava as poor Julie in te 50's movie' Last revival I saw had Lonette McKee as Julie And Donald O'Connor as Capt. Andy. Pure Delight. Where does "Till there was you" come from?
