in California, which has info.

Also there are a couople of
musicians who sing Joiks: Wimme Saari, (pronounced Vee May )
(Wimme) (who records on www.noside.com)
and Mary Boine (www.fortunecity.com/millennium/lilac/3/boine.htm)
would be two to check.

The "old" Term for these northern people was Lapplanders,
but the preferred name now is Saami.
