The ideas on what the nonsense bits could have been originally is intersting. However, given the tradition of lilting and the countless nonsense syllables in Irish songs, I doubt they ever had a real meaning. I mean what does alilů puililů mean in Irish if you're going to analyse that sort of stuff? Incidentally the one decodable bit to me is the Musha. I'm sure I've heard it or something very similar used as a term of endearment.
