The 'Nice Warm Socks' project has been has been selected by a public vote to to be one of three arts projects across the UK to go through to the finals of the National Lottery Awards 2007 in a few weeks time. It would be really appreciated if you could cast your vote for the project by going to http://www.lotterygoodcauses.org.uk/awards/project/27 and clicking the 'vote now' box before 31st August.

The 'Nice Warm Socks' project uses song, specially selected for children at an early stage of development or with learning difficulties to help them improve their communication skills. Devon based folk and community arts organisation Wren Music created the materials working with speech and language specialist Shan Graebe and and staff and students from the Ellen Tinkham School in Exeter.

'Nice Warm Socks' was given money by the National Lottery 'Awards for All' scheme to produce a CD of 17 songs, teaching and other support materials. You can find out more about the project on the website http://www.nicewarmsocks.org.uk/

'Nice Warm Socks' now needs public votes by 31st August to stand a chance of winning the two thousand pounds first prize, which will go towards further work in arts education. So, please, take a moment for two mouse clicks that could help a lot of children for whom it would make a big difference - and tell your friends!

Thank you, on behalf of the 'Nice Warm Socks' team

Martin Graebe
